Predictions: Gallatin Co.@Walton Verona 12/27

I happen to like Coach Bennett. He has always treated me very well. I just happen to think Coach Jones always gets more out of less. I have seen way too many underachieving W-V teams ever since they moved to the 8th region( excluding the last 2 years and that might have something to do with Coach Sullivan. ) I saw a W-V team 3 yrs ago get beat on W-V home court by a less talented and smaller Gallatin team. Same thing happened the year before if i am not mistaken.

As far as Davis being a little overrated, you are probably right. That is part of my point. Gallatin is 8-9 deep with mostly interchangable parts , and should be for the next 5-6 years. Gallatin defeated a very big(and overrated) Carroll Co. team a week ago. A Carroll Co. team that defeated Boone Co. last night. The same Boone Co. team that defeated W-V by 27 points on W-V's home floor. Does that mean that GC is 34 pts better than W-V ? No, but i think GC is 10-15 pts better. I may be wrong. I think it will be fun game to watch. The Galatians strength is their guard play , W-V's strength are their big men . We will see how it turns out.

My opinion on Coach Bennett may be biased since I played with him for several years. However, I also had the opportunity of seeing/watching Coach Jones for along time as well. Perhaps he does make the most of the talent pool, but keep in mind, Walton is in the same boat as far as talent pool. They both are making the best with the limited talent.

I think its invalid to base how much better Gallatin is than Walton by previous games. Teams have different playing styles. BUT like you said we shall see.

Just got back from Carrollton where Gallatin lost to Highlands by 92-56. The Wildcats actually hung in for 2 1/2 quarters. It was 54-42 with 4 minutes left in the third. With 4 minutes left in 4th it was 81-46.

Gallatin surprisingly had their way on offense in the first half, they just had no way of stopping the Bluebirds. They zoned the first half and Highlands knocked down their 3's. Their size and physicality finnally wore down the Wildcats.

To say that justin davis wouldn't play on most northern kentucky schools is a very bold statement. He had his way with highlands in the first two quarters and forced their coach to make strategic changes that would take the ball out of his hands and make the other players beat him. He could start on highlands, no doubt about it......As far as the gallatin vs. walton verona game I like gallatin by 15-20.

For you to think W/V and Gallatin's talent pools are the same makes me wonder if you have been watching high school basketball the past 4-5 years. I guess I would agree the regular home grown kid's are about equal---but once all the invitations are sent out it totally changes. W/V as the pick of Simon Kenton, Boone, Ryle, and who ever else's cast off's.

If walton did that don't you think they would have at least one good guard that was a cast off.

In the Gallatin game look for frank Daugherty to take more shoots from the outside and look for one on one chances with Frank and gallatins big man.

Please......do you honestly think kids come to Walton to play basketball??? You are mistaken then.

Yeah they must have really shut him down to win by almost 40 points........????

GC better hit everything they throw up from the outside because they won't get many put backs.W-V by 5.

Yeah good assessment.....Mr. obvious

You weren't at the game and if you were you would know what I was talking about

I know for a fact that over the years that several key players at Walton have come from out of district.

Might have something to do with Waltons reputation as one of the finer schools in the state of Kentucky, regularly recognized for their academic achievements.

The big question here is that Asst Coach Sullivan earned a reputation at Campbell County as a builder of the program from elementary school on up with his contributions at the AAU level.

Can they do the same thing at WV? If the 7th grade guard mentioned above is Sullivans kid, do they have enough talent to build around him?

the 7th grade team and the kids behind him in 6th all play aau with sullivan year round and look for them to be the next good team at Walton.

They may have been out of district but they were not there to play basketball.
