At the risk of losing any music cred I like it all. I like pop. I like "pop country" as Jim would call it. I like hip hop. I did Neil Diamond. I did Michael Buble. I dig Whodini. Love Garth Brooks and the Eagles , again for Jim.

I think Beiber is really talented.

I like Flo Rida's "Low."

The single "Some Gave All" and other non-achy breaky heart songs by Billy Ray are pretty solid.

I dig some of Rihanna's songs. I really dig her.

I LOVE hip hop but see nothing at all wrong with that. I really dig Rihanna...she sings too? Pop country is a plague on society...

:thumb:  Frankly, I don't have anything against pop music, a lot of it is very good. I can't stand the commercial, focus-group tested, boilerplate stuff, though. And that's exactly what you'll find on top 40 country radio...and Nickelback records.

Give me some Alan Jackson or Kenny Chesney any time, my man.

Spent the weekend in Memphis and rode down with my 17 year old sister, Mom, and a friend of mine we run with. When my sister had shotgun she picked the station and always went to the country station. I had forgotten just HOW bad pop country is. Hadn't really listened to any in several months but twenty minutes on the country station completely reinforced my assertion that as a whole it is a plague on society.

Give Hank III a spin.Straight to Hell and D___ right rebel proud. That should take care of that problem.:D

Is there an easier job than a pop country song writer? There has to be a giant ad-lib book floating around one of those office buildings in Nashville. Change some words, change the key, and find a different sellout to sing it like he wrote it - top ten hit.

Or anything Justin Townes Earle has ever done.

It's funny you say this. A musician friend of mine was blasting Toby Keith on his FB page today and I posted this.

I'm going to write a Toby Keith song:

I love America, oh America

Remember 9/11, oh 9/11

I hate Muslims but love America, oh America.

Really need to add I can't wait to get to heaven.

Can't think of anything that rhymes with America, so I'll say it again, oh America.

I'll take all songwriting royalties when this is #1 on the country music charts.

^ Just needs a chorus about a manual labor job and beer, possibly an funny, innocent sounding double-entendre about female anatomy and you can frame the gold record. Then grab a thesaurus and make about twenty more of those.

We'd be an unstoppable force in today's country music scene.
