December 6, 201114 yr Bottom line, UCLA and Illinois will bring more fans. Sucks and ridiculous but that is college football. You're exactly right and it's unfortunate, but that's the way it is. Colin Cowherd was talking about that this morning. Bowl committee's are going to go with the people that will pack the hotels with thousands for a couple days and start drinking at the bars @ 9:00 am (both cases spending money and lots of it). He had some great points, as he always does.
December 7, 201114 yr As a former player for WKU (under Coach Harbaugh and played with Willie Taggart). I believe WKU got completely screwed. They got booted from the Compass Bowl by SMU, because the committee thought the SMU v. Pitt game would be a better match up. However, I think teams like Illinois and UCLA getting are absolutely absurd. I understand the bad loss to Indiana St, but what about their overall performance against LSU. They hung in there for almost 3 quarters...better than many of the SEC teams did against LSU. They have 7 wins, they should be in. How do they expect a coach, a university, and a fan base to help build a program when opportunities for bowl games should be there and then they are denied. Plus WKU, has one of the best RB's in the country and many have never heard of!!:madman:
December 7, 201114 yr A lot of the contrast between the beginning of the season and the end of the season is confidence IMO. I think if they played Indiana State at the end, they would have won. Early on, the losing streak at home and just the culture of losing in general had them so spun around they couldn't see up. Jakes was an atrocious QB at the beginning, and while he will never be Elway, he became a very serviceable QB once they started winning.
December 8, 201114 yr I agree and I have buddies close to the program, but the BCS takes in "Bad Losses" and thats why I asked that question.
