School policy and he likes playing with his good friends who he has played with for the past 6 years.

So the policy says he has to play with them? Does this mean he can't play up? I'm just trying to understand, he's a stud for sure.

He can play up as the middle school schedule allows for now. In our area middle school bball starts in the fall or as soon as football is over for the football players and it is over before Christmas so after that he can focus on the high school team.

Saw the video of that dunk...I thought it was more impressive than the 2 alley oop dunks he has had this season. He had 3 players on him and drove through the lane and slammed it...then drained the free throw for the 3 point play. This kid is the real deal.

Nothing wrong that at all. My guy played up a grade and his own grade for 5th thru 7th. Had the time of his life that 8th grade season with his buddies. High school ball reshuffles the deck. That tight group of friends knew that they may never be together on the same team again...and they aren't.

I see nothing wrong with him playing his own grade during middle school season. I doing so, he is getting opportunities to do things that he might not get at the varsity level: shooting perimeter shots, handling the ball, leading the break, etc.... He will be fine. At times he will be role player at the varsity level, which all players should learn, but he should get the opportunity to be a stud and play with his classmates that he goes to school with every day. Not a bad thing in small communities.
