I would say the big difference between the two is the Tea Party is a protest led by the gang from the Senior Center and Occupy is a protest by the college drop outs. They tend to run a protest differently.

I knew what you meant. My point was that generalizing about a group over the actions of a few is unwise and unfair to that group.

I don't think you can compare the two. Generalizations or not. Heavy drugs, sexual assaults and from what I have read in here, even death in the OWS movements. That has not happened with the tea party which is why in the long run the tea party will hold itself more merit and will be perceived as better to outsiders.

I can't give you a number, but I sure have an awful lot of articles and seen a lot of stories over the last few weeks. That alone shows the difference between the two camps.

I was generally speaking on the way both of these movements are perceived by the public. Generalizations do have an impact on how the public reacts to these movements. Without public approval, a movement will not last.

Very few? Well, in comparison to the amount of people involved with OWS, sure there are more that are peaceful. However, there have been far too many incidents reported and you can bet your life there are a heck of a lot more crimes that don't get reported. So, it really isn't generalizing, it's happening too much and not by just two or three of them. Unfortunately, the dregs love to come out to play at events (for lack of a better word) like OWS.

Nearly a half-dozen assaults have been reported at Occupy camps, including three at the New York City protests, which have prompted protesters to set up a “women only” tent in Manhattan's Zuccotti Park to provide a safe haven.

“The concern would be the rapes and attacks that aren’t reported,” said Sgt. Ed Mullins, president of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, a police union in New York City. “We have no way of really knowing. If you have three or five crimes reported, you really don’t know if it’s eight or 10 that happened.”

Like I said earlier, I don't see how the two movements are comparable. OWS is losing support everyday.
