Alabama? Stanford is currently in the process of getting rocked by Oregon and Boise State already lost. That's both undefeated teams that were in position behind them. If Oklahoma does indeed beat Oklahoma State as everyone anticipates, it's going to be tough to avoid an LSU/Alabama rematch without some help from the pollsters.

Oregon deserves a chance to play LSU again before Bama does IMO. Bold prediction, if the Ducks make it in to the title game they will win.

Just because they lost on what was essentially a road game? Bama may have lost at home, but it was a 3 point loss in OT. Oregon needed a TD with 13 seconds left to cut the margin to 13. I think you overestimate any Oregon "improvement". Stanford would be the first opponent of any regard they've beaten.

Oregon needs lots and lots of help anyway. They entered tonight 7th in the BCS. Obviously both Stanford and Boise State would drop behind them. But I have a hard time seeing how they'd jump Oklahoma if they beat Oklahoma State without another Sooner loss. And I don't see how they'd jump Alabama unless the voters just decided to do it for the heck of it. And why would they given that both teams would be a rematch?

I think the team with the best chance to jump 'Bama is Oklahoma.

1. Oregon would be a conference champion

2. OU lost to TT, Oregon lost to LSU. Huge difference

3. Is the Pac-12 really that much worse than the Big 12? I see two team conferences with alot of mediocrity

4. Oregon would have beat #4, OU #2. Not that much different.

5. I don't see OU beating OSU this year

If it comes down to Alabama or Oregon to play LSU, I'd much rather see Alabama.

I think everyone has really slept on the Ducks. Had they not played LSU I think they'd easily be #2 in the BCS.

Your logic makes no sense.

Well, if Oklahoma doesn't beat Oklahoma State then the argument is moot - no one else is going to beat Oklahoma State. So for the purposes of the argument, we're saying Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State, which I feel strongly they will. Oregon is currently behind Oklahoma, and any bump they receive from the win over Stanford will be negated by Oklahoma beating Oklahoma State, therefore I believe unless the pollsters jump Oregon far enough, Oklahoma will remain in front in the BCS. The computers favor Oklahoma in a big way, already enough to overcome the fact Oregon is in front of Oklahoma in both human components. And that's despite the difference in losses that are already on the records. And I believe you're likely to see the pollsters jump Oklahoma ahead of Oregon before you'll see them move Oregon further ahead because of the rematch factor.

#1 is really your only argument for why Oregon should jump over Alabama to get into it. And just because they were blessed to be in a mediocre conference, I don't think that's a compelling argument that they "deserve" the chance. It still boils down to me that though it was essentially a road game for Oregon, LSU dominated them.

How so? Oregon had an early season loss on the road, their best win is going to be #4 Stanford. Alabama had a late season loss at home, their best win is top 10 Arkansas. They lost to the same opponent. One game happened in week 1 on the road. One game happened in week 9 at home. One team is conference champion, the other is not. Its really not hard logic to follow or understand.

It was week 1. Neither team is the same team right now. Maybe LSU would still dominate them but who knows?

Oklahoma State is #1 in four of the eight computer components, and LSU is #1 in the other four. I highly doubt that even if Oregon was ranked second in both polls ahead of Oklahoma State that they'd achieve #2 in the BCS.

It was Week 1 and LSU was without the services of the QB who rescued them against Alabama. Something they found out in the week leading up to the game. And still they crushed Oregon.

Again, the only difference I see between Oregon then and Oregon now is that they were fed Pac-12 opponents. Oregon will have the marquee win between the two now, but the balance of the schedule will remain far in Alabama's favor.

Who knows? All I know is that an undefeated Oregon would look pretty good right now. Many will discredit Stanford as a result of tonight, but that is just East Coast bias that always kills the Pac-12.

Do we need to be reminded of Oregon's problems this off-season? QB is about the 10th most important part of LSU's team, so we'll add the week of suspension of Cliff Harris (Oregon's best defensive player) and call it even.

They would look good. They'd certainly be a solid #3 after tonight, and maybe even a chance for #2, but no way would they be easily #2 in the BCS.

I don't think there will be any discrediting, and even if there is, that's not going to stop the human pollsters from moving Oregon up, probably to #4 in those rankings. You talk of that bias but those are not what is ailing Oregon, it's the computers.

Something Oregon knew about in June. I don't see how you can even compare the distance of their off-season troubles to events that happened in the week leading up to the game.
