It's also apparent that this year's team, despite how bad the offense is, really want to win. For three years, Louisville fans didn't know what that looked like as we watched the players flat-out quit on their coach. A coach having that effect on his players seems to me an important factor in future success. I don't know whether that's enough, but I agree with the notions that it's about giving off the appearance of stability as Louisville looks for its place in the conference realignment nightmare.

October 20, 201114 yr ^ $1.6 million/year but on a sliding scale. He'd have made $2.6 million in the final year if he'd stayed through the entire contract.
