Featured Replies

BluegrassPreps.com and the Kentucky News Network are now working together to promote high school basketball in Kentucky.

We are currently taking nominations for the BGP/KNN player of the week! The player of the week can be from any team and is based on game performance from this weekend.

Please submit your nomination in this thread and provide as much back round/stats/information as possible from the game last week.

Also, from host Al Mayo:

Hey folks--it's been great using all the nominees week after week on the show, and we'll continue to use them for the foreseeable future. I wanted to remind you of a couple things. When you nominate a player, I need his height, weight, and class designation (Freshman, Sophomore, Etc). I also need the stats to be correct. Just telling me it looked like he scored a lot of points won't do it. Please include all pertinent numbers like points, assists, steals, shots blocked, number of dunks--you all understand what I need. Otherwise, I have to track these numbers down. Not that I mind doing the legwork, but I normally save this part of the show for last, so I can take nominees until the last possible hour, so I just don't have the time to look it all up. I'll usually pull the information from here by Thursday afternoon, so try to have your candidates nominated by about 2:00pm Thursdays. I couldn't be happier with the information you've all provided, and I'm looking forward to continuing our association with BGP!

:D

Todd Jacobs is my nomination for player of the week, and I find it hard to believe that anyone else had a better week than TJ.

Todd is a junior at Covington Catholic, and is in his 2nd year of starting for Mike Listerman's Colonels. Todd is a 6'1'' (probably) shooting guard.

On Friday against Lafayette, he scored 17 points in the 1st half alone. Todd ended up with 25 points against the Generals.

On Saturday, against Western Hills (OH) in the Bluegrass-Buckeye Charity Classic Todd scored a career high 37 points...in about 3 quarters of action. On Saturday, he went 6-10 from 3-point range (giving him 9 3's in 2 days).

He finished 12-17 against Western Hills & 7-9 from the free throw line.

He is now averaging over 20 points per game & obviously leads the undefeated Colonels in scoring.

Ashland's Drew McDavid has been outstanding in the Hoopin' It Up tournament in London. Through the first three games, the 6-3 junior is scoring 27.7 ppg and nearly 7 rebounds per game while hitting 67 percent from the field on 34-of-51 shooting. He scored 43 points and grabbed 9 boards Wednesday, and his team needed every one of them to hold off the Knox Central comeback effort. The Panthers came back from 18 down to cut the Ashland lead to one on three occasions late in the game, and each time McDavid answered with a bucket or free throws to keep his team in control.

Ashland plays North Laurel on Thursday, so he'll have a chance to add to his outstanding totals.

Who else everyone?

Antonio Owens 30 points 10 assist vs Hoggard High School NC

Antonio Owens 34 points 12 rebounds vs Corbin back to back

nights.

I second the nomination of McDavid.

McDavid had 18 points, four rebounds and three assists tonight in a 69-62 loss to North Laurel in the Hoopin' It Up Holiday Classic. He had an incredible week.

Owens put up 53 pts tonight in finale of three game tournament to go along with at least 12 rebounds vs Bob Jones,AL. Had 3 game total of 117 pts.

He got my vote.

Dakotah Euton an 8th grader that starts for Rose Hill Christian School in Ashland. Dakotah is 6'-6" and weighs 195 and plays the 3 and 4 positions for Rose Hill.

Rose Hill competed in the Raceland Derby Classic this week at Raceland High School

Rose Hill's first game against Rowan County Dakotah scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds

Rose Hill's second game against Raceland, Dakotah scored 20 points with 9 rebounds

Rose Hill's third game against Brethitt County, Dakotah scored 25 points with 12 rebounds

Rose Hill's forth game against Greenup County, Dakotah scored 14 points with 12 rebounds

Not bad numbers for an 8th grader playing at the varsity level.

I also vote for McDavid's 43 point, 9 rebound game against Knox Central in a winning effort. Thats the thing that matters.

So did they win the tournament?

or did they even get to the championship

We are voting for player of the week, not team of the week. However, I guess because he is an All Mighty Tomcat he should get the award.

If Euton don't get player of the week, then I votes for Owens. He could beat the mighty tomcats by him self, or at least add a couple of grade school players.

Our KNN Scoreboard Show/Bluegrass Preps.com Player of the week is---
