Williamsburg vs. Berea

Featured Replies

Both the Jackets and the Pirates are coming off big district wins. The Pirates put Lynn Camp in its place and the Jackets held on by the skin of their teeth to eke out the win at Campbellsville. Berea has been making some noise with their ground attack the past couple of weeks and have a bull at FB in #45. The tail back #34 also runs hard and they seem to have found an offense that works. The Jackets have struggled to find balance, but have a developing star at WR in Griffith. Sizemore has improved each week at QB, and now that Patrick is healthy the run game seems to be catching up. This will be another battle of speed vs. power, with the Jackets having to figure out how to keep Berea from controlling the clock with its big backs. Can the Jackets speed outlast the Pirates? More later in the week but until then... Jacket Pride!

Williamsburg 42-12.

I think Wburg will get to name the score in this one. Jackets by at least 30.

Yep. We got put in our place. Sorry we don't live up to the vaunted district we find ourselves in. Off year to say the least.

But, out of curiosity, cnc78, we are 0 for the season. We lost to Pineville. We lost to Harlan. Exactly what IS our place to begin with? Were we awesome coming into this? Were we district favorites coming into this? Did I miss something somewhere that Lynn Camp was going to tear up the football world?

Mighty Jackets will roll on Berea and will probably run it up on the Pirates if they want to.

Good Luck to the classy Burg fans that I do know personally and that DO understand Class A football! You know that we all have these seasons eventually.

To the not-so-classy fans, the bad talent year(s) will come to you sooner or later.......We'll be watching for them......

Also, CNC78, if we were 10-0 this season or we go 0-10 this season, and if you were 10-0 this season or 0-10, Hazard and Harlan kill whichever one of us they get in the playoffs. Short playoffs coming up again. District Champ or District 4th will all be the same thing this season. We are "in our place" and holding seats for the rest of the district in a few weeks....

Not that I disagree with some of your previous statements in this thread, I think this is a little off, I don't see Harlan killing Williamsburg, although I do think it would be an uphill battle. Hazard is beatable, if you are on the field you have a chance. Seems like you are pulling your district mates to lose. I know it is tough to swallow the type of season that you suffering through, but don't cheer for other schools to get beat.

ST5, Harlan beat Burg a few weeks ago by almost 20. Not cheering against anyone, just saying the best in the district has already lost badly to the second best in the other district, just as we did. Also, just replying to the "put in their place" comment and how we all will be. Burg is young, Campbellsville is talented but not as talented as Harlan or Hazard. Berea is better but no where near the two and we are struggling. Hazard is beatable but I do not see anyone in the district beating them just to be a realist. Harlan is an uphill fight for the teams in our district. Hazard is a vertical battle.

Read into it what you want, but we are weaker than the other district. Not a matter of rooting for or against, just a matter of observation.

High School football is all about rivalries. Who on earth does not pull against their rivals? Rooting for your rivals is right there with participation trophies....Ask cnc78 if he is pulling for LC to win out. I am thinking no based on his earlier statements.....

Geez Daddy was not meaning offense and sorry you took it that way. If you read my posts I will be the first to admit I am a homer, as you are. When saying put in place my meaning was that Berea won the game and not anything disrespectful to your team. I have watched the Campers on film and respect very much the effort they play with...its a tough year for you guys and having been through tough years I appreciate that. Now I will not claim to like Lynn Camp, but heck I'm from the Burg so thats natural, as I'm sure you don't like the Jackets either. I enjoy the rivalry between our schools and am sorry you took my comments to be derogatory as that was not the intent. Unlike many Camper fans who I read on here, I rarely if ever criticize other teams, but expound on Williamsburg...sorry you're having a down year, but take your frustrations elsewhere and don't read more into my posts than what is written...and I'm pretty sure when we lost to Harlan and to Onieda they put us in "our place "as well.

Maybe we win maybe we lose who knows ...that's why you play the game. We are young, earlier against Harlan and Onieda our youth showed...we matured some last Friday and learned to face adversity and eke out a win. Unlike you I want all our district teams to suceed until we play them...it just makes everyone better, and you are incorrect I pulled for the Campers several games this year...its like the SEC ...I may be a huge fan of one school, but pull for the SEC teams anytime they are out of conference.

Daddy Cat knows that the loss of 2-3 players(i.e. Lynn Camp) or the addition of 2-3 players(i.e. Williamsburg)can greatly affect the success of a Class A team.

Yes it definitely does. I have seen us dress as few as 17 players before. With that being said I think that the way Jerry Herron prepares his teams is absolutely amazing and even when they come up short they give tremendous effort. And I well remember Lynn Camp beating us by about 60 when they had Chaffin and Reynolds, and we had Root and Moses among several others out. Not saying we would have won because LC was outstanding that year but we might not have gotten beat by 60..lol...guess LC put us in "our place" that time

I have a lot of friends that are Burg fans and talk with them weekly (some daily) and you would be suprised how little "ripping" of each other goes on. We are not very good this year, but I just took offense to the "in our place" refrence due to the fact that we were not projected to be great. As far as rooting or not rooting for district teams, I was stating facts as far as what we will be trying to hurrdle in a few weeks. Harlan and Hazard are the cream of the mountains in Class A right now. Burg has grown and developed and has been something to watch, cnc, but Harlan and Hazard have developed also. i am not saying that Burg's talent will not kick the crap out of Harlan and Hazard over the next few years, just saying that it probably will not be this year.

4CHS, I counted 10 kids we have lost for various reasons and at least 5 or more would have made a HUGE difference. Just the way it goes.

And on another side note, despite the love in, NO ONE EVER PULLS WHOLE HEARTEDLY FOR THEIR RIVALS! Michigan fans never pull for Ohio St. Alabama and UT fans do not pull for each other. Ever.

We may claim that we pull for other teams to make nice, but few of the fans really do. It is a nice sentiment, but when UK is knocked out of the NCAA tourney, I do not instantly become a Blue and Orange blooded Florida fan. Few people do that. It is just human nature to be "us" and "them".
