1966. Beechwood is at the top of Class A football. Wish them luck rest of the year. If they stay healthy it should be another title. Seem better up front than the last couple of years. I think that's why they'll give Mayfield a run this year.

 

True, the lines this year are back to where they were in 2008 as to size, strength, ability and depth. They have played without 3 starters the past couple of weeks and haven't missed a beat.

I respect the Rechtin family very much, they have doen a tremendous amount for the city of Bellevue and the kids of Bellevue. As far as the Wilson's I played with the older brother (I graduated a couple of years before he did). I don't really know him or the younger that well. Also, I don't hate Coach Montgomery. He seems like a nice guy from when I have spoken to him.

Dayton was pretty good at that time but not really compared to Beechwood. However, Ridder was a great coach. He should still be coaching somewhere.

 

Overall you are right with exception to the '96 season. Both teams were equal that year. That season's game between the two in the quarter finals is one of the best I have seen. I didn't have much doubt that the winner of that game would be playing Harrodsburg, which ended up that way being a great title game with Beechwood winning.

 

Even though that quarter finals game was very good and hard fought, it was a real backbreaker for Dayton. Outside of winning state in 1966, Dayton's best chance was in '96 and there has not been a team remotely close to that one.

Agreed. Kind of forgot about that game against Beechwood in 96. That 96 Dayton team was a really nice team.
