Trinity alum
The bail out did NOT save GM... The bankruptcy did.. Yeah, right. After the actions of the Bush and Obama administrations saved the economy from going into depression it is easy enough for those with a political agenda to say it wasn't going to happen. You are wrong. We would have lost GM, Chrysler and Ford without the strong actions of the Obama administration.
Bluegrasscard
Um, General Motors comes to mind. The government forced it into bankruptcy and then gave half to the UAW and then IPOed a 'new' company. Wiping out the old investors and rewarding the union with ownership. Look at the current GM stock prices and compare it to the IPO price. The government whats to get rid of its remaining ownership. I can only do that by taking an big loss that translates into more tax/stimulus dollars lost and wasted. GM may still fail completely. If GM is the high water mark of success that explains a lot. 75center
This story is really starting to stink it up. FBI is investigating them, large donations from the company's leaders, multiple WH meetings leading up to the loan. This could get ugly. http://dailycaller.com/2011/09/08/solyndra-officials-made-numerous-trips-to-the-white-house-logs-show/
cammando
More Chicago style politics.. Millions of the stimulus dollars are returning to Obama as "campaign donations".
75center
I'll admit I didn't think it was much of a story when it first came out but with the relationship seeming to be cozier than indicated I have to wonder where this will lead.
