Lexington Catholic 33 Bell County 30

Featured Replies

Final per the Scoreboard.

Wow. I heard LexCath was thumping Bell County. Can't wait to see the details on this one.

I heard Cory Davenport had 258 yards on 23 carries.

How is the going to play in the mountains? New coach. Will there be "For Sale" signs in the yard? Or, was this supposed to be this close? Saw Lex Cath at Trinity last year and they didn't seem this good. Also, saw them lose to Cov Cath.

By the end of last year LexCath's tough schedule paid off. The gave Boyle County all they wanted in the playoff game. Their QB Kyle Bolin is the real deal and LexCath or Boyle County along with CovCath are likely the only 3 teams capable of defeating Highlands. This win for LexCath was not a fluke by any stretch of the imagination.

Final is 33-27. Hats off to Catholic. Bell County had a chance at the end of the game in the red zone came up short. Bobcats will get better. The coaching staff did a great job prepaing for Bolin. Bell held Lex Cath to under 300 yards of total offense. I think that Bolin had only 221.

That's pretty good holding him to 221. Good luck this year. I hope to see you guys in BG.

Davenport got his yards mostly by hitting the corner. LexCath's 3-4, 3-5 defense has trouble with a strong back that can turn the corner on it. LexCath has some work to do on defense. But two stops inside the red zone at end of the game and 2 defensive scores (a scoop and score by Jordan Artrip and a safety on a 4th and long) were good building points.

LexCath had to answer 2 early Bell scores and the combination that struck was Bolin to Bush for both early scores. Noah Mitchell got a running TD in the 3rd quarter for the Knights.

Lexington Catholic 33, Bell County 27: Lexington Catholic forced four turnovers and beat Bell County on the road in a rain-soaked contest that included a 45-minute weather delay.

Junior quarterback Kyle Bowlin went 11-for-20 for 216 yards and two touchdowns for the Knights, who allowed 423 rushing yards. Bell County senior Corey Davenport rushed for 258 yards and two touchdowns.

Without a doubt Log Mountain is a beautiful venue to play HS football.

LexCath is a very good team and have a big-time combo in Bolin and Bush.

Bell showed their youth with the mistakes but also showed some very good things. They will be ok. Bell had 8 or 9 new starters on defense and manged to hold LC to 3 offensive TD's.

Great game. Good luck to LexCath the rest of the year!!!

Oh yea Davenport is the real deal.
