Collins High - No Home Games

Featured Replies

It appears that Collins High School, which opened last year in Shelby County will have to play their games either on the road or at another stadium this season due to field turf problems.

Collins High School officials still aren’t sure what’s wrong with their football field, but the Titans will have to play their home games elsewhere in 2011.

Collins athletic director Gary Kidwell said Thursday that the Titans’ five home contests will be played at Shelby County’s Robert Doyle Stadium.

That is bull crap! Shelby get pooped on again! The entire district stuck it to SCHS with this split. They caused hard feelings and now they want to bring Collins back. They bragged about their turf, thumbed their noses at SCHS and now want to come back. They should play all their games on the road. The district shouldn't have even asked to use the facilities!

They are both part of the Shelby County School District. I'm guessing if push came to shove the superintendent would say to do what they are doing.

Time for adults to be adults. No reason to force the Collins players to play every game on the road other then spite. That would be a very poor reason.

Agreed. I would think sharing the field would go a long way towards mending any hurt feelings that came about during the split.

I heard that their is a drainage problem and any time it rains that the turf floats like walking on a waterbed.

No kidding. You would also hope people would sympathize because it is not cheap to load up the caravan and play on the road. Not exactly what you want to be doing given the economic climate of today.

The "sore spots" in the County are the adults. The kids will always get through it just fine. We adults could learn a lesson if we would have the forgiving hearts of kids.
