Today's paper mentioned that the NKY Baseball Coaches have voted Jake Cain as the 9th Region POY. Good kid, great family. Congrats to Jake on this achievement and good luck next year at NKU.

As we've stated on past threads, it was a wide-open year for POY. I felt like which ever team who won the 9th--their "stud" would be in the cat-bird seat for POY. Any way you slice it, many well-deserving candidates this year.

Thoughts/comments?

Congratulations Jake !! Go Breds !!!!

Congrats to Jake. I personally think Teegarden is the best all-around player in the region hands down.

Heckuva pitcher with a nice future.

Congrats to Mr. Cain.

I Hope he carries the banner far into the Baseball Sweet Sixteen for the Ninth and I will be at the game on the 14th rooting him and NCC on......

Great year for Jake. He should have gotten a lot more recognition in football, and now to be 9th region POY...way to cap off a great career. Good luck in the tournament.

Thank you for the nice comment about Doug Teegarden, maybe next years POY. NCC had a very good year and I wish them luck down state. Cain is a very good ball player and I wish him nothing but the best in his future. If anyone has Cain's stats for the year maybe they could post them?

Early money for next year's POY is probably going to be focused on Teegarden (Boone Co.), Hightchew (NewCath), Tiberi (Holy Cross) and Clarkson (Ryle). Case can be made for others as well---just as we saw this year. Could've been any number of guys---and they all would have been well-qualified recipients. 2011 produced a heckuva class of players.

The best prospect in that group of talented kids is Tiberi.

Congratulation to Cain! Also, congratulations to the 4 sophomores Callery, Tiberi from HC, Norton, from Brosart and Kuebbing from St Henry for being selected to the Sophomore Showcase.

I agree with this 100%. Congrats to Cain and good luck NCC down state.
