Ryle 22, Scott 7

Wow what happened there I didn't see that in the paper. I think Scott also lost to North Bullitt 19-2? Ryle must be rolling

As much as it pains me to say, Ryle is very good. I think it would be a major upset to keep that team from repeating as 9th region champs. Smith appeared to be throwing much harder than she was a season ago and they have a strong D and can hit. Connor seems to be playing better of late so that would be a good game. I am sure a couple other teams can play with them as well but for any one in NKY to beat Ryle would be an upset imo

You are dead on the money there. They are really good and the back ups are just as good. well coached and fun to watch unless they just beat the crap out of you.

Not sure about the backups being just as good. There positions players 1 thru 9 are probably the best in the area but what sets them apart is there pitching. They have beat our team in very close games and beat the crap out of us and it was not much fun either way!!!

I would have to diagree with there position players being the best in the area. I don't think any centerfielder is better than KC Straley at Conner. Conner also has a good catcher in Katelynn Halcomb. I do agree that they have a good pitcher and team. Just not with great position players.

I have not seen Connor yet and I am sure if anyone can match Ryle it would be Connor. Connor has a very good pitcher as well. If their players are as good 1 through 9 it should be a very good game.

Well maybe Connor can't compete with Ryle. Score doesn't always tell the tale of the game but that was a butt whooping either way.

Well its a lot of fun to watch all the teams play how the books are kept. Highlands has three very good position players the best catcher in the region with Conner the center fielder Thiesen and short stop Hollingsworth. I would take that core any day. They just need what Ryle has a pitcher.

That's fastpitch in a nut shell. More times than not the team with the best pitcher wins. Ryle beat our team 19-0 and I would bet good money if we switched pitchers it would be real clolse to the same score in our favor.

I am pretty sure Ryle has a good catcher and SS as well so Highlands still has a way to go to get to their level. A lot of teams have several good players on there team, not many have a complete team.

No Campbell County school (public & private) will never get to the level of Boone Co. schools until they get out of the mentality of slow-pitch first then fast-pitch. They need to develop the league around fast-pitch and never have the kids play slow-pitch.

NDA will get there in a couple of years.

Not saying NDA won't get there but what makes you think they will. I have seen nothing to say that they will besides upgrades to their field. There pitching is a little better this year but they are still way off from Boone County schools. Is NDA getting all of their players to play some type of summer ball?

I am sure that was a dig at Brossart, but they have been competitive with the Boone teams for several years. Your point is well taken about Campbell as well as Kenton being behind Boone at the Rec level. Sad part is Boone is far behind the rest of the state. Until someone takes softball seriously at the recreation level, Northern KY will remain the worst area in the state of KY for softball.

No dig towards Brossart but after this year they do not have much for pitching unless they get someone moving in. I agree with you regarding Boone being behind in the state. I posted somewhere on here that if it was just a pitcher/catcher game then Ryle should have won state all 4 years Kirsten was there. I would also have to say the state of Kentucky as a whole is behind when you compare them to the majority of the states. I think for the most kids are being pulled in so many directions. Your best athletes play volleyball (soccer), basketball & then a spring sport. There is no concentration on one sport. Also, what I find the worst thing about the coaching here is, for the most part the fundamentals are not being taught anywhere. This goes from throwing - hitting and everything in between. Also, until someone comes into NKY and teaches pitching the RIGHT WAY, there will never be good enough pitching in this area.

They have 30 players from 7th grade up. Three Frosh pitchers will only get incrementally better. Starting 7 frosh, 1 soph and 1 senior plus they are getting all the nice young athletes that are getting cut from volleyball. Having their coaching staff does hurt - they know what they are doing. The field is nothing more than catching up with the rest of the public schools and St. Henry.
