NKAC champ this year???

Featured Replies

Who will be crowned NKAC champion this year? I would think it would be Highlands, given that they went undefeated in NKY, beating NKY no. 2 CCH to win their district. However, NCC is the only NKY team to reach the finals. Which team will be the NKAC champion, and when is it officially named?

I don't think they name a team in football since football is classified and has districts.

Are you sure about that? I was given a binder of information about Highlands' football history last year, and it told the years (as recently as 2004, in fact) when HHS was crowned "NKAC champion."

They do crown a conference champ. Not sure how they determine it or if they separate classes, I imagine they would.

That 2A NKAC race must be a barn-burner every year then. At least a school could say they won it or were runner-up every year. ;)

Same for 3A.

I don't think they do... I believe that every year there is only one NKAC champion named in football.

The reason I'm wondering is I'm about to make the final updates for this past season on my Highlands website, and I wondering if I should include "NKAC champion" for 2005? Surely, whether it's only one team or whether it's given for each class, Highlands would have to be NKAC champion this year, right??? NCC lost to 2 NKY teams this year, so I don't see how it would be them.

There playing for a title though and no one else is. I don't know how this thing gets awarded. An AD somewhere has to know. ;)

Here I'll post it first to save others the trouble. If they won it last year with 13 losses then they would have to win it this year with 0 losses.

Did you get that from his website?

Maybe they do a big school (3A 4A), small school (1A 2A) champ. That kinda rings a bell.

I would just like to go ahead and declare HHS the NKAC Champion for the '05 season, since nobody else has. :D

There are too many variables to say, for example:

Newport had the best record during the season, NCC is the only one to go to the finals.

Really, I just don't think you can declare anyone the champ. Teams have different schedules and everything else.

I believe it goes to the team that was ranked #1 at the end of the regular season......So that would be the "BIRDS".

I'm unaware of any NKAC team awards.
