How about Andrew Schult with 16 and wreaked havoc on defense?

 

If the 9th region gave a Most Improved Player, Andrew Schult would win it hands down! He is a kid who defines what High School sports should be. He is not a physical freak, and he's not 6'5" or is he a pure shooter. He simply took his God given gifts, worked hard at maximizing them to their fullest. He gives 110% ALL the time, and is the ultimate team player. You can see the passion he plays with every minute he is on the court. He is intense yet displays great sportsmanship.

 

He went from a kid who played sparingly on JV as a Soph, played limited minutes on varsity as a Junior to a kid that next to Thelen was as critical to CovCath as anyone on the team. It has been a joy watching him play/progress these past 4 years.

Both must've been great basketball players, but it's not too often that you meet someone who actually saw them play...

I hate to see another CCH senior class go out this way. This was a good senior class that, other than Thelen, rarely gots its due. Congrats to Ryle and best of luck against NCC.

Congratulations to CCH seniors on a great career especially Jake Thelen who will go down as one of the best ever at CCH. Back to the game, why in the world do coaches not foul up three with only seconds left in the game? It almost cost Ryle last night, like it did Xavier vs Ohio State a few years ago. It makes no sense. I'll take the ball up 1 every time.

 

I know Coach Mullins wanted them to foul the players just didn't get it done. Cov. Cath. did a great job of moving the ball around to prevent it.

It's a senior class that is going to be very difficult to replace.

 

I look forward to seeing how the Haden kid does next year. He seems to have some potential. I also look forward to Nick Fredrick getting some run. They will need his ability to hit the outside shot and handle the ball.

Very difficult to replace in a lot of ways - most especially leadership. They are all good young men to the underclassman and I would have liked to see their fate play out differently. You mention just Hayden and Frederick. What are your thoughts on the other juniors returning: Massie, Arnzen and Cleves?

Massie needs to get stronger with the ball. Good athlete though.

Arnzen simply needs to get his knee stronger so he can be more explosive. He lacked that and I think that led to a lack of confidence offensively.

Cleves plays nice D. Needs to be stronger with the ball and not settle for the 3.

 

I expect Fredrick to have the ball in his hands a lot next season because he can score many ways and he can set up others who need to be set up.

I grew up playing on the court in the VonLehman's back yard. My Dad took me to watch Jon play against and guard Bill Walton in the NCAA Tournament Jon's Senior year at the University of Dayton.
