As we saw tonight with Lexington Catholic or anyone from the stronger districts. It's not fair that they still wouldn't get a shot at the region title.

 

In the case of Trinity not even get into the region.

 

Besides Lexington Catholic, you had Western going down to PRP, Bowling Green and Christian Co both getting beat.

Have you lost any of your Sweet 16 teams in either contest? I know I've lost two in the most recent one.

CovCath's 5 year run was more impressive because they pretty much dominated a region with a lot of good teams for all 5 years. In fact, only one team in the region beat them each year in that run. They were also robbed of a state championship in '67.

Holmes' run is impressive too, but no more impressive than their 4 out of 5 year run from '76-'80 which also included a state championship which they were robbed of BIG TIME!

If Holmes were to get to the region championship this year, win or lose, how would that stack up to Covcath's feat in the late 60's?

 

That would give Holmes 6 region final appearances in 7 years (4 titles in 5 years). Sorry TOG, but I'm still somewhat young. History lesson please, sir.

Not yet in the recent one...will have to go back and check the Nov one. Which ones did you lose?

The last 4 years the 50th District winner and runner up have meet in the 13th Region finals. Not sure how the rematchs went.

I like the current format. A lot of times one District is loaded while another is not. This allows for most of the best teams to compete for the Region title, as it should be. I've seen many times when 1 District will have 2 or 3 of the top teams in a Region.

Why would this even be a problem?

 

And would this be along the same lines of thinking as when only the two top teams in a district made the playoffs in football?
