St. Pat was within 2 or 3 for a good part of the 4th quarter. Both teams had 13 field goals and the Lady Saints out-rebounded NCC by a dozen. This should bolster their confidence as we head toward the post-season.

Congrats to NCC on advancing, and to St. Pat for not folding after falling behind 19-7 and making a real game of it.

Actually they both made different calls. And they stared at each other quickly and the lady official who made the charge call indication gave way to the official under the basket who made the block signal. I dont have a problem with the call except they didnt even discuss the call to decide who saw what. The guy under the goal was closer but he was shielded from seeing the offensive player use her arm to push off. The lady out front did see that. They should have just discussed the call is all I am saying to make sure they had it correct. That is not why St Pat lost but it did have an effect on the team you could see it in their faces.

Congrats NCC. I'am at a loss to explain NCCs shooting woes except for a very determined young Lady Saints ball team. The fact of the matter is St. Patrick matches up well with NCC except in experience. Lydia Hamilton played solid low post defense against NCCs fine young freshman center. What this does is free up the other players to there defensive assignments. NCC took very few shots that were not contested. NCCs defense was however the difference in this game causing most of the 27 turnovers on the stat line. When these young Lady Saints start to value every possession as if it was there last they could be a very special group.

NCC has got to get it into the post more, they got it into Kiernan early and good things happened but then they kind of went away from her.

I agree that NCC's shooting woes were a result of the Saints defense. The saints played great defense as did NCC, which made it hard for both teams to play effective offense. Ncc's press resulted in many turnovers for the Saints, but on the other side of the court the Saints defense under the basket put a damper on NCC's shooting.

I think experience made the difference as well. NCC had girls who have played in this tournament for two or three years, and the Saints seemed to have some jitters stepping on the McBrayer floor for the first time. I think the Saints first quarter of play was evidence of that.

Overall, it was a good game and I think the Saints surprised many by not getiing beat by 20 or 30 points. A different first quarter and who knows what the outcome may have been?
