Final

GRC will take on Louisville Western at 9:00 for the championship of the Toyota Classic. Scott county will play at 6:00 versus Christian County for the consolation. Robbie Stenzel played one heck of a game!

I wish I could have gotten to watch GRC play. They must have one heck of a team. I hope to see them at Rupp.

Did Zollo play? How did Hickey do?

Not taking anything away from GRC, because I knew they were a great team, but I'm surprised they beat Christian County by this margin without Zollo.

 

It looks like they've really peaked after returning from the Beach Ball Classic. If their play from the past 7 or so games continues, count me in as someone who believes they have a legit shot at beating a Jeffersontown/Eastern/Ballard, etc. to win state.

 

Just to reiterate, I would have said they were a contender for state earlier in the year, but now, I think they're separating themselves from the pack of ten or so teams in that discussion and have established themselves as one of the state's elite four or five who would be a heavy favorite, especially considering their not having to run the gauntlet of the 7th or play a regional as balanced as the 11th.

GRC played one heck of a game today!! Robbie Stenzel had five 3's in the first half alone. Travis Purvis stepped up and played a great game in Vinny's absence. Charlie Rogers and Bopper Stenzel played great defense. GRC beat Christian Co without Zollo and Christian Co was at full strength. Christian Co has a very good team and I expect them to represent the 2nd Region at Rupp Arena.

So proud of the Cards today for stepping up and playing a great game in Vinny's absence.

Players are stepping up and showing why we should be ranked as a top team in the state, and without Zollo. Travis Purvis has really improved his game. Today he had 16 points and 11 boards. Robbie, Stenzel, what can I say, he was unbelieveable today. Robbie was also sick and was getting a IV after the game. Travis Purvis was also under the weather today. Got to love the play of Bopper Stenze also, to my knowledge he had 0 turnovers today. Cory, Jaylan, Adam, and Hakeem all contributed to our successfu win over the #5 ranked team in the state.

You are so right. They are ranked #5 in the state for a reason. Look for them to come out of the 2nd region.

A very good win by a margin that is surpising without Zollo. The depth on this year's team is so much better than last years and it is showing.

There is no doubt GRC will be a hard out for anybody that plays them the rest of the season. Could be a sloppy game tonight with both teams having tough semifinal games. Winnning as impressive as they have been shows alot of leadership and maturity of the seniors having been through the fire over the last three years. Its about as good of a GRC team as Ive seen over the last thirty years. A loss in the first round of the Sweet 16 would be a major dissapointment.
