George Rogers Clark 73 Covington Catholic 46

I stayed and watched part of the Christian Co game....they are very quick make lots of steal. Will be a real challenge for GRC tomorrow night. If a thread hasn't been started I will start one on that game, so we can keep on topic of this thread.

If Vinnie doesn't play it will change the dynamics of the entire game. Christan Co will have gotten back the football studs that were missing in the first game. This will be a test for GRC.

And if ViZo doesn't play - this would be a great time to get the ball to travis Purvis. He keep lurking around and at some point he will break out for about 34 ina game. Could be tomorrow.

I hope Zollo is okay and not out too long. I believe Clark County will be playing on Saturday at Rupp in March. Should be a great state tournament this year.

Thanks my friend, When you going to come watch a game with me?

Travis played very well tonight when Vinny went out. He was 4/5 form the field,2/2 FT, 5 rebounds,1 A and 1 steal.

I believe that is a short amount of time where Travis Purvis willg et his 3pt shot working, and he will get some big numbers. Not to mention the fact that he is a HUGE threat moving along the baseline for GRC.

And with thier imporved play of late - I wou I'd like to see more of Charlie Rogers and Adam Thatkin.

Though that Adam Fatkin made the play of the game tonight with coming from the weak side for a put back.

We have experinced the injury bug and it stinks..

Happen to us in 2009, and cost us the regional championship. Zollo and Robert Hatton played, but both with bad high ankel sprains, Hatton's was both ankels. That is the year Travis Purvis missed the whole season with a tore ACL.

GRC Boys

The GRC Boys basketball team was also a winner Friday, hammering Covington Catholic 73-46 in the first round of the Toyota Classic in Georgetown.

Robbie Stenzel led four Cardinals in double figures with 19, followed by Corey Rogers 17, Jalen Daniel 15 and Travis Purvis with 10.

“We have a lot of quality players on the team and as they have done all year, when Vinny went down, someone else seized the opportunity and ran, Humphrey said.

The Cardinals were superb on offense, hitting 58 percent of their shots from the field and 5 of 9 from behind the three point line.

“This was far and away our best basketball of the year. Our shot selection was excellent all night and our guys did a great job of being unselfish,” Humphrey said. “We were looking for each other and taking quality shots and we have a lot of really good players out there.”

Humphrey said Purvis had his best game of the year, especially with his aggressive play on the defensive end.

$5.00 very reasonable for a tourney.

So glad to talk to you tonight GRCCardinal1995!!

He is in a boot, so I would think a couple of weeks.

If its in a boot then its a high ankle sprain. My boy is just now returning from same injury. Lots of ice, elevation and compression. I also purchased some Pro Sera wraps online to wear at night and it helped reduce the swelling faster. I hope he can return sooner rather than later.

How long was your son out? High ankel sprains can be very bad. Glad your son is back playing, hate to see any player injuried.

From Jody Demling of the CJ:

Checked out Clark County for the first time this season tonight and they are really good. I can see them playing on Saturday at the Sweet 16, they have all the parts. With that said, WKU signee Vinny Zollo did get hurt. He rolled his ankle and looked pretty bad. He was taken for X-Rays. EKU signee Robbie Stenzel (photo) had 19 and Corey Rogers 17 and eight boards for the Cardinals in a 73-46 win over Covington Catholic. The Cardinals are talented.

He went down on Jan 4th against CovCath ironically and is coming back tonight vs Boone. No boot and was able to walk on it after a few days but went to physical therapy a few times and he was back practicing this past Wed. I would say minimum 2 weeks but likely 3. They should have him back for the postseason which likely will make Mason Co fans sad. lol

Vinny was not in a boot today. With the help of our fanstatic trainer, DeCapio he should be back in a week or two.

I have heard they are hoping for the Male game next Saturday. He made tremendous improvement in a few hours in the 2009 regional so here's to hoping for another fast recovery.
