This is coach Cotton. I'd like to comment and put and end to this thread. I was so desperate to be a head coach I took the job without having met Cook or interviewed with him. My mistake. Then when I did get it I went all in committing to a long term re-building project with all my heart, brought my family here and bought my house. I instituted a program of fairness, character and accountability, began teaching fundamentals, instituted a feeder program, scheduled a freshman and full jv schedule and began the BFS strength and conditioning program. Not surprisingly not every kid and parent bought in right away. These are the things that will begin to show dividends in the long run. Every decision I made was to build long term dividends and permanent lasting success. In essence I was building a PROGRAM not a team for a season. I was given less than 1 year. Big mistake committing to people I don't know. I should have never come here but I'm a grown up and I did and now i'm paying for it. Another coach on my staff moved here from Mississippi and bought a house also. I feel bad for him and i'm sorry. I feel bad for the kids who had now bought in and i'm sorry for what their future looks like now.

 

Keep your head up Coach...you'll rebound and will be a better Coach and MAN for it!!!

I don't know about '09, but I'm almost positive that they only finished with 2-3 seniors this year.

 

That would mean that sportsfan08's comment about "with the same team" makes even less sense, since he is implying TC won 4-5 games in '08 with a roster of sophomores.

08 team had Leonard Macon and another kid that was a stud of an RB, as well as several other good athletes. Seems as if Coach Cotton was working about it the right way.....numbers just way down this year and many of the kids that played I think were first year players.

 

 

We all know that the only thing that matters in Taylor County is the BAND....but they do have a really really good band! By far the most "interesting" and entertaining half time show of the year.

Coach good luck to you in the future. I don't know the situation there or you personally but one year is not enough to accomplish anything. Good luck to you and your staff.

Coach Cotton I know nothing of you or your staff. But just from reading this thread it seems that you were treated unfairly. The program at Boyle, Lex Cath and any other state power was hardly built in one year. I do believe you will bounce back as hard as it may seem. Stay positive and may God richly bless you in your future endeavers.
