November 26, 201015 yr I have no dog in the fight, I want CHAOS! It's the only way we will eventually see the system changed. My point was that Auburn isn't a top 2 team in the country, they are a top 10 team. No it isn't. The only way the system will ever change, is if teams like Boise and TCU this year are undefeated and don't play for the title game. If either of those teams make it to the title game this year, all you "little guy" fans and playoff advocates will never see it happen. They'll be able to use the "see our system works, even the non-BCS schools have the chance to play for the title" defense. If you guys were truly for a playoff, and not simply for wanting to see a little guy make the title game, you'd be rooting hardcore for them both (Boise & TCU) to miss out.
November 26, 201015 yr Auburn will be fine with a loss, if they can keep it respectable, and I expect them to get back in it in the second half...They still have a game against another top 15 team looming, and winning that will propel them ahead of an undefeated Boise or TCU. I sure hope not... that would be a sham.
November 26, 201015 yr They deserve their ranking. Who else should be above them? Not Boise or TCU as long as Auburn is undefeated. I've just never believed Auburn could or would beat Alabama. And, I think a dominating win by Alabama makes it very difficult for Auburn to remain in the title game. I think UKMF is wrong in the belief that the result of this game doesn't matter. Reread my post. I said a loss in this game, if they can keep it close (respectable was my word of choice), won't hurt them if they beat USC next weekend. If they lose by 2 scores or less, I think they'll be fine with a win over USC.
November 26, 201015 yr I sure hope not... that would be a sham. How so? So a team that plays 6 games against top 15 teams is supposed to be judged in the same manner as a team that is lucky to play 1 game against a top 20-25 team?

True, but you could also look at from the viewpoint that you have to be PERFECT to get any kind of chance. How many teams kept jumping Boise and TCU for their shot at #1 before falling. It takes everyone having a loss before you are even considered and even then, there is the outcry that a one loss major conference team deserves a chance.
November 26, 201015 yr How so? So a team that plays 6 games against top 15 teams is supposed to be judged in the same manner as a team that is lucky to play 1 game against a top 20-25 team? Boise can't help what league they are in this year... can't penalize them for that. They went out and scheduled two ranked teams this year and beat them both. They deserve a shot. It's not like Auburn has been world beaters in their games this year (barely surviving UK is just one example).

You most certainly can, and should hold that against them......When you don't even have to prepare for 80% of your opponents because they're bottom-feeders of the college football world, it makes those one or two games against good teams that much easier to focus on.
November 26, 201015 yr And after tonight they will have played 3 top 25 teams. And it will go right back down to 2 if they win...Nevada lost to freaking Hawaii for goodness sake. To say they're a good team is very generous.

You have to prepare for every game you play. Ask Michigan and Virginia Tech about that...
November 26, 201015 yr Man, not sure what Auburn was doing there...Seems like they weren't made aware of what everyone in this thread was, that the game is over already...:idunno:
November 26, 201015 yr You have to prepare for every game you play. Ask Michigan and Virginia Tech about that... Ok, I'm sorry, they don't have to put in more than a days worth of prep time for the crap teams.
