Dominance by Corbin tonight. The Corbin d was constantly putting the Pburg QB on his back and shut down any sort of run game Prestonsburg had. Great effort by the Blackcats but Corbin had just too much fire power. Prestonsburg got a late score to make it 48-14 with about 3 minutes left. Congrats to both teams on a great season.

Total domination by Corbin's Defense tonight. Gave up 1 TD on a long pass, but other than that they played on Prestonsburgs side of the football all night long. Jamerson caught a TD late against Corbin's reserve unit.

 

Corbin's offense took advantage of Prestonsburgs mistakes and ran the ball very well tonight.

 

Congrats to Prestonsburg on a fine season, and we pray for traveling mercy on the long ride home.

Corbin's defense dictated the game. Great job by the Hound's defensive coordinator in dissecting P-burg's offensive tendencies and weaknesses. I was afraid what would happen when a good defensive team blitzed the OLB's vs. P-burg's jet set and Corbin illustrated just that in gory detail.

 

The one chance P-burg had to get back into the game after the half was embarrassingly squandered. I hope it was the QB's mistake lining up in the gun with NO RBs on 1st and goal at the Corbin 1 (the snap over the QB's head after NO look-back by the center argues it was) - ended up with the QB not being able to fall on the loose ball. Crisp is NOT even an -average- "running" QB.

Crisp is a tough kid. Corbins backers were teeing off on him- often untouched by blockers yet he got up and never quit. That takes character!

I did not understand why he was in the shotgun either, that play sealed the deal in my opinion.

Matthew Taylor looked like a man among boys when he had the ball in his hands, he just was not going to be denied last night.

I think Corbin would have still gotten the pressure and sacks albeit probably not 10-12 that they did but Pburg didn't keep a blocker in the backfield much. Jewell and Tipton were killing it off the edge. Harp was the one doing most of the dominating though up the middle. Man is that kid gonna be a player over the next two years. He's like a runaway train out there on the field.

I liked the move of Harp to FB on occasion last night, he had some pancake blocks leading backs through the holes.

The answer is simple. When in the jet series, one wing is taken out of position by the motion. When that OLB blitzes, he has a free path into to the backfield.

 

In the spread, Crisp doesn't have the footspeed nor quickness that Burchett (last yr's QB) had. He simply doesn't have the ability to beat a tackler 1-on-1. Without keeping 2 backs in to block or not having a quick target, he was a lame duck.

 

The Corbin defensive coordinator's gameplan was excellent.
