Bishop Brossart 2010/2011

Featured Replies

What does Bishop Brossart need to do to improve in 2010/2011? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

I have heard that tsome players from last season are not coming back out. Apparently they will only have 3 kids per soph/Jr/sr class as far as returning players. Maybe Mustang can clarify how things are going so far in the preseason.

The one guarantee is that the Mustangs will be well coached and play hard (regardless of numbers). The seniors that graduated are very tough to replace at a small school but Coach Code will have them ready.

Can't wait for the Crosstown Showdown in Alexandria on Dec. 11th.

Never count out a team with a coach like Mike Code, I haven't followed as closely as I would like to. Someone with some better knowledge could shed some light on what it looks like they have going into the season?

Not sure where this repeated story of yours is coming from, but I counted all 4 seniors back (although one is currently injured from football), while they did lose a few juniors for various reasons (not surprising when you had 9 sophomores playing last year) but if memory is correct I think 5-6 are back, and I think the one freshman that played varsity last year is joined by 3 other sophs? I hear a couple of freshmen may see some JV-Varsity action as well. I'm sure Mustang can be more accurate, but I think the rumored demise of BB's numbers may be overstated.

Rumors of Brossart basketball's impending demise due to lack of numbers is certainly greatly exaggerated.

We will go to war with four seniors (albeit with one suffering from a torn ACL), five juniors, four sophomores, and fifteen bona fide freshmen players in the program.

The program's loss of a few players who were in the system is strictly due to natural attrition, as the pyramid narrows nearing the top, with a couple of potential hoopsters having opted to concentrate on soccer, football, and academics. All left on good terms with the program and the coaching staff.

Our program has a fine tradition of carrying JV/Varsity rosters of 17-20 players, and will dress out 15 this year with a few additional freshmen playing both Freshmen and JV basketball. I would think that many small Class A schools might consider this an enviable position to be in.

We are very pleased with our situation and are looking forward a highly competitive season this year, and a very bright future.

Brossart will have a difficult time replacing Rieger, Armstrong and the rest of last seasons very solid senior class. However, they are still in contention to win the very competitive 37th District with Campbell County and Scott.

Brossart is going to guard and run their system to perfection and make opponents life generally miserable no matter who is on their roster.

Mustangs will miss their departed seniors, but who won't? I expect Brossart to go as far as their emerging "bigs" will take them. They are very solid and experienced at the guard position, but can go significantly forward as a team if their big men progress as hoped. Like many in the 37th, they've got several question marks; but if they can get some productive inside play to go with their guard depth they can be pretty good. They could be very deep if some of the younger guys develop as the season goes on; and I would expect them to be much better as the season progresses. Interesting year in the 37th.
