I am a little sad about this game considering it is the last time the schools will meet in District or playoff action. Yes, LCA has beaten us way more than not but it has always been a clean, well played and mutually respected contest. Not to mention such great BGP friends.

 

That said, Raceland allowed 17 quick points before settling down to play a pretty solid game earlier this year. We actually out gained LCA in total yards but lost the turnover battle. If we can play under control, maybe we can leave Lexington with a W.

I'm rooting for the Rams to avenge their regular season loss. If they come out strong early they can have a chance to win at the end. Good luck!

:thumb: I can certainly agree doc, more than most will know. These BGP/LCA fans have been unbelievable. I have and always will have respect for the LCA football program.

TwoEagles and Bluto have been great and I certainly appreciate their prayers for me in this battle with my disease (M.S.) not to mention the "Fan of the Year" award that they, LCA personel, BGP's Ram and former coaches Rains and Vanderhoof all had a hand in. I still am in disbelief about that. All the LCA people that I have been posting with here on BGP are all class acts and I wish LCA nothing but the best in 2A :thumb::thumb:

 

O.K.......Enough of all that stuff for now ! Come Friday night I want to beat them (LCA) in the worst way.....a good bye to class A, District 5 present from the Raceland Rams. Of course I will wish them all the best after this game.

That ugly stat HAS TO be eliminated!

You guys have seen all the Raceland games this year so I certainly can't disagree with your assessment that turnovers, or the lack thereof, will tell the story in this game. I still think Farley is one of the best QB's in our area, though. He has the ability to lead the Rams to a victory if he handles the pressure, makes good decisions, and eliminates the interceptions. I hope Raceland wins.

We (LCA & Raceland in particular) respect one another as guys who have a passion for HS Football and we all seem to have the right perspective that it is just a game - but a game that gives each of us a little memory of our own personal "glory days" of playing Football - some much longer ago than others - ...(The older I get - the BETTER I was!)

I believe the Raceland fans represent their community very well - they show excellence and passion on here just as the Raceland program/fans show it when you visit them to play - lots of fun and great atmosphere (as I have stated on here many times).

I will miss the fun and rhetoric we have with each other next year.

 

The good news about this game this week is that we will ALL be pulling for whoever wins this game the rest of the way throughout the playoffs! I predict this to possibly match up with that awesome game we had at LCA 3 years ago where LCA had a big lead - the Rams cam back and tied it up late in the 4th and LCA made a 2-minute drill to get a log FG for the win - one of the best HS football games I ever witnessed. It could be THAT good this week!

Well stated 2E. We have had fun over the years with each other, and had a great time talking to LCA BGP members. Really two peas in a pod as far as I'm concerned, the Raceland fan base and the LCA fan base are truly much alike. We may take that for granted at times, but it is truly rare in high school sports for two teams that meet virtually every year with so much on the line to get a long as well as we do. I have really enjoyed it. The way it should be.

 

As for 2007, we had two very real opportunities to have INT's on that last minute drive, that still makes me sick when I think about it. Thanks for bringing it up. But, yes, it was one of the best HS football games that I have witnessed. I hope this week's game tops it.

Having known Coop and his family, living on the same street as them growing up I know that Randy "Coop Dog" Cooper is another Old Rambler that will be cheering for the Rams. Another plus is that Coop has a better seat and better connections than any of us. :thumb:
