I take it royalblue81 hasn't seen those boys play this season; figures he's an sk guy. Nearly every opponent they played had the same amount of players or more and Scott still won. Note: They crushed Beechwood (another winning program) 34-7 and Beechwood has beat teams from the other division as well. Great job EAGLES!!!

Scott's only loss was to SK 13-21 in the first game of the year. I don't think Beechwood or NCC care was class Scott is. I think they prefer to have some competition which was provided.

 

There were a few kids on Scott's team that anyone would love to have on their team. I think #3 Castleman was my favorite player. Tough little guy.

While it is nice that they did win you cannot dismiss the fact that they are playing teams 3-4 classes smaller than them. I agree that if it is ok with the coaches association then we should not have a problem with it. BUT lets not get carreid away into thinking this is going to translate into varsity wins against the larger schools...................I hope it does build some confidence so that they have a winning attitude...............

 

And wins over Beechwood and NCC are good wins regardless of class size!!!!!

 

I agree with you on this. Let's hope the new district (Conner, Cooper, Grant County, Scott, South Oldham), plus the confidence they're building, can pay dividends toward winning ways. Personally, I think it would be outstanding to create some success and hopefully allow them to translate that success into the playoffs, the community, etc. I was really impressed with their facility last night. What a place! Again, great season to both teams.

Beechwood is probably the only school that had more players from the smaller division and you have to keep in mind they have 7th/8th graders on their team as well. Probably the same number of actual freshman. Crushed Beechwood might be a bit exaggerated. Tigers moved the ball a little but committed too many mistakes against a better team. I think a rematch would have been much closer.

 

I'm happy for Scott. lets hope they continue this progress and move up to play in the big school division when appropriate.

I think that is pretty much true of all freshman games. Success on the freshman level does not equal success on the varsity level. Look no further than Covington Catholic to prove that. Their freshman teams are great year after year and their varsity record hovers around .500. Two or three great players usually lead to a very good freshman season but it takes a lot more than that to win varsity games. The good news for Scott is this group of Scott freshmen truly is talented and has a lot of size. If they stick together and work hard, they will have some success in varsity ball.

 

For those who aren't aware, Freshman Division 2 includes Scott, Holmes, New Cath, Newport, Holy Cross, Lloyd and Beechwood. So it includes a mix of schools from 2A-5A plus Beechwood. Last year Cooper played in Division 2 but they moved up this year.

While I totally agree, it's hard to say anything negative toward this when we see large 6a schools schedule smaller division schools over the years to get a few wins. Great job for this program and its exactly what they need to inject some confidence and will hopefully be a solid building block for the future. Could be two good classes for Scott, They won the Freshman Bball last year and now the Freshman football. Looks like the Eagles may be building a very solid foundation in both sports.
