Assumption/South Laurel is going to be a great game right out of the gate. NCC/Ashland will be a great match too with the winner most likely getting Mercy.

Haven't seen any of these teams but based on competitipon played I don't see either of these being close matches, especially the Assumption match. Just my opinion.

WOW!!! Great draw for NewCath. Provided they get by Ashland they will get a match with Mercy. I am sure Mercy is loaded as always and will be the Breds toughest game of the yr but if they can get by them lookout. The winner of this game would most likely find themselves in the Champsionship game against Assumption. Interesting how the two big Lou schools seem to find themselves in opposite brackets quite often potentially setting up an "All Lou" final. Either way, Good luck to my Breds as I am pullin for ya. They didn't . 2002 Ryle High School , 2003 Farnham Dudgeon ,2004 Frankfort Convention Center ,2005 NKU , 2006 Frankfort Convention Center , 2007 NKU , 2008 Bellarmine , 2009 NKU , 2010 Bellarmine . It switches every year .

I think it will be a very interesting bracket all the way around. Also floating in from the 11th is Henry Clay who is having a great year. I see them moving to the Quarter-Final, but the top half of the bottom bracket will be up for grabs at that point.

I like it at Frankfort... anyone else have a opinion?

Although I like Frankfort as a host city, the convention center is not a very "friendly" environment for volleyball fans. The seating is such that it is very difficult to move around and anytime someone gets up, they are in the way of people behind them. I like the tournament in a gymnasium such as Bellermine or NKU.

I would like to see it in Corbin or Pikeville.

I'm sorry to say this about my mountain teams but the ONLY way the South Laurel match will be somewhat close is if the AHS reserves don't play well. AHS coach Ron Kordes will most likely not dress his best players for this match...the Louisville schools usually do this when they play a team they know they're going to handily defeat in the first round...and for whatever reason, the 13th Region has played the 7th Region about half the time in the opening round since they switched to this format of 16 regional winners advancing to state.

The tournament will go to a 2 year site at NKU beginning next year then once that is up, it will go back to Bellarmine for 2 years. That is the hope that it will work out like that over the next four years. I personally love it when they games are here cause it brings a decent amount of people to campus and I get paid to be at them and work in some capacity...lol.

Newport Central Catholic and Ashland played each other in pool play in the Bluegrass State Games Back in July . NewCath won the match 21-6 , 21-10 . For some unknown reason Varsity matches are only to 21 in the Bluegrass State Games

Several of the tourny's GRC played in only went to 21. I am not sure if that is to help speed up the pool play in tournaments. Think they should play to 25 every game.

It does help speed up the pool play games, but more importantly if you play to 21 or go 25,25,15 it is a shortened version and refs get payed less. Then Tourney makes more $$... I like the 25.25 and to 15 in the 3rd game, if needed, format for pool play. Still saves time and money but keeps players focusing on 25.
