I watched the game that ended in a score of 47 to 16 and eight of those points scored on the jv. Again missing four starters doesn't help. Coach Lickert called the dawgs off early and kept it respectable.

 

Scott had over 400 yards of offense, 350 yards rushing and you said they had trouble moving the ball. Holmes took out their starters with approx. 3-4 minutes to go in the 4th qtr. Scott had over 10 penalties at halftime including 5 face mask. Scott was their own worse enemy. Scott was in the Red Zone all night and killed themselves with penalties. Congrats to Holmes on the win but you obviously didn't watch the same game everyone else in the Stadium watched. BTW, Holmes wasn't the only team who had starters out that game.

Eagle2013, I went to the Scott/Bellevue game at Dixie a few weeks back. Sowder was not having a very good game, and next thing I knew he was out and another kid (#15 I think) came in and did pretty well. Who was that QB backup? Also, did Sowder sustain an injury that game?

Are you sure you are talking about the Bellevue game? Sowder had 225 yards rushing with 3 rushing TDs. He only threw 4 passes and 1 was for a TD. Ryan had a great game against the Tigers.

 

# 15 is Joey Heeb. He was the starting QB at the beginning of the season. The coaches decided to change things up and use Sowder at QB. Now they alternate at QB with Heeb being the official starter. He has gotten better with each game. Sowder is a lot like his older brother, a very tough down hill runner with tremendous balance.

IMO, Holmes has been the benefactor of an extremely weak schedule. Arguably their best win was against a 2 win Cooper team. Against Scott they were weak up front on both sides of the ball. Didn't get much push from their d-line against a Scott offensive line that has struggled all year long. Teams can find success passing against Holmes. Offensively, their athletes were better than Scotts but they weren't as athletic as I thought they would be. They had trouble running up the middle save for Jensen on the QB draw plays. They did have much more success running wide, which every team Scott's faced has been able to do.

 

Holmes will lose to Withrow and beat Harrison Cty but I really don't see them being a serious threat deep into the playoffs. I do hope I'm wrong and they are able to make a deep run this year because its going to get a whole lot tougher for them next year. Good luck to the Bulldogs.

 

To answer your question about Scott, yes they are that bad. Penalties, turnovers, poor snaps that mess up timing, poor tackling and bad play calling are all ingredients of a bad team, IMO.

Jensen was the leading rusher in that game.

180 of Scott's rushing yards came in the 4th quarter against the Holmes JV. Oh and Holmes only threw the ball 9 times (for a 123 yds) the whole game because Lickert has class and didn't want embarrass his old college coach. 2 starting WR were not playing (one of which is the best in NKY) and 2 starting D-linemen which is why Scott's Oline looked good. Scott player get after it though! No questioning their toughness. But you Scott fans are clueless! As far as the playoffs go we'll see how good the Dawgs are.

My stats came from Holmes' khsaa site.

 

Kind of odd though that Scott's total yardage on Holmes' page matches what Scott's stat keeper had for rushing.

 

They also had Scott with 77 yards passing and not 63.

 

Either way, Holmes dominated this game and that is shown in the score. Considering Peterson didn't play, the Eagles should feel lucky the score was what it ended up being.
