Who's definition of the "greater good".

 

IMVHO the "greater good" would be better served by taking away the temptation to be a "lazy person".

 

I can definitely see your point. The whole "feed a man a fish...teach a man to fish...." concept.

 

However, there will never be a time where there is NO human out there who won't take advantage of something that's designed to aid the less fortunate. Heck, there are people who are millionaires who are getting unemployment right now. But they are the exception, not the rule. To end social aid is to harm more than it will help. Then it becomes a case of cutting your nose off to spite your face.

 

I simply can't condone a society who lets people suffer because a few are not legitimately in need.
