JC with an excellent ground game plus a difference maker at a RB should win this one. With the game on the "hallowed ground" of Putnam Stadium I look for the "ghost's" of Tomcat football :eek: to arrive and win this game.......maybe by that famous fg.:sssh:

Not to skew the thread at all, but I'll be glad when they demolish some of that hallowed ground at Putnam and replace some of the concrete mess with something better. I am excited to see how it turns out. Now if they could just figure out how to get a parking garage.:lol:

I saw the 3D artist rendition and it was fantastic. Scoreboard looks great. Hope you have more on your side this Friday than on the other.

What makes it so hard to come out with a win at Putnam Stadium? It's been said on here three or four times Putnam stadium is so hard to win at. WHY?

Is it just the very good teams that the cats put out yearly?

What is the winning percentage at home vs away games each year?

With this said. Because of the talent in the backfield of JC. And the lack of run defense of the cats. I have a feeling that JC will eek out a win. Don't worry T-cat fans. I'm only getting about 40% of my rival games right this year!!

Officiating – I don’t believe this, refs are assigned, and I don’t see much difference in officiating home or away.

GB when you lose as much as I have over the years like I have at Putnam stadium. You use the officiating reason. :taz: It was a great place to play there when I was a kid. And it's always been one of my favorite places to go watch a game. But as you get a little older you get a little wiser. And you realize maybe the best team may have won all those games without the officials!!!. We found out it's not impossible to win there. We haven't done bad there the last decade! If you have the talent and a little luck you can win. Even at Putnam stadium!! It's just a great place to play and has so much tradition. I remember years ago they woud bring in a couple small colleges to play a game. I believe the last one I went to was Finley College and Fairmont College. That was a few years back!!!

I listened to the Ashland/Ironton game on the radio. In between the crying over the officiating, it sounded like Hunter was running for his life. And I think that is the key to the game. Hunter has time I think Withrow and Whetsel will get open opportunities. If not JC wins and pounds it at Ashland with no sense of urgency. I believe the first quarter will make or break the Tomcats. I hope Ashland dominates, but would be less than honest if I said they should win. Matney seems to have their #.

:lol:I just like the history and feel of the place and although I have never been on it I have heard numerous opposing players say that the playing surface is great, it sure is one of the best looking fields I have seen. Putnam is even better looking when my Rams are able to go in there and beat them . I have to agree on the parking, better parking would be nice.

Officiating - Now Greybeard you know as well as I do that Ashland has never had a call go there way and as a matter of fact they have gotten the shaft in every game, home or away that they have ever played. Should you not believe me just ask Dickie Martin! :popcorn:

In between criticizing the officials, they describe the game as well as anyone. They'll go over the top in heaping praise on the Tomcats if they're winning, but at the same time they'll be as critical as anyone of Ashland if they're losing. It makes for a great radio show. I can't imagine better high school football announcers in the state. I encourage all Johnson Central fans making the trip to Ashland to bring a headset radio and tune into 97.1 FM. You won't regret it!

:thumb::thumb:Very well said ryan. my post was in fun about how Martin always complains on officials.......Always. At least he is not bias, he complains no matter who they are or where the game is at, even Ashland. Are the radio crew homers? Yes. what do people expect? That is a Tomcat sports station, the radio announcers are Ashland alums and are paid by that Ashland station. Now, about the quality of the broadcast it is excellent, very knowledgeable and the best play by play on our area by far. I of course haven't heard everyone in the state but I will say that I couldn't imagine any being much if any better. While I am on radio broadcast I will say that Carter Co.'s WUGO crew are also very good.

Good post Painter and you are correct, imo it does take a game like this one to give your teams a "kahunas" check see and if they have learned anything from getting their tails kicked vs. Ironton. I believe they will please you with how they play, at least I hope so
