BEITS, there is no disrespect meant to Green Co. (I've told you before, I have nothing against Green, I just don't like Griff). I too was told you had heavy graduation, the roster shows no seniors, a freshmen QB, and 11 8th graders on the squad. I've seen Larue Co. play and they are not particularly good, and of course you all played much closer with Bell last year than this year. Perhaps I am wrong and your best football is ahead of you. However, I saw Glasgow and they looked pretty strong. Evidence, simply evidence.

Hearsay, I am not sure your beef with Griff; however, I will share some facts. YES we did graduate 14 seniors last year. A few good ball players and a couple first year players. This season, we have 8 seniors and 12 juniors (20 upperclassmen) Our starting quarterback is a Junior who played tailback last season. As far as the Larue game, Larue is always matchup problems with the Dragons and on that night the conditions did not play in Green's favor. This team is getting better each week and knows how important this game is for the district hunt. As far as the Bell County comment, we played Bell County this season and last season played Middlesboro in the City/County Bowl. Bell is very good, no doubt. In my opinion, they will be eventual 4A state champions. All in all, if you want to see a good football game, visit Glasgow vs. Green County this Friday night.

I have all respect for the Falcon football team and Coach John Pettet; however, I feel that your #2 ranking is solely based on your success last season. To be named #2 overall in the class playing Wayne, Edmonson, Adair, Logan, Barren, and now Metcalfe doesn't have me totally convinced. Many teams would be undefeated through week 6 (and yes it will be through week 6 because Metcalfe game will be over in the 1st qtr.) with that type of scheduling. Don't get me wrong, I know the Falcons are a good football team...a team that is well coached and comes prepared to play but I feel as if they may be slightly down from past two seasons. Monroe Co's last 4 football games will give us all a better judgement of exactly how good this team is, but to say you are #2 at this point is tough for me to swallow. NO HARM, NO FOUL !!!

Feel this will be a good football game between 2 good teams. This is a big game because winner will be at least No. 2 team in district. Think that team with least amount of turnovers wins this game. As far as district feel that Danville is only team in region that can compete with Glasgow, Green, and Monroe.

Edmonson Co. is a top 10 team in their class, so they might not necessarily be a game to be dismissive of.

Scotties will best the Dragons in a white-knuckler 22-21.

That's funny and extremely cocky. Only the people that happen to reside in Monroe Co. think this game is for second place. I think that sometime between October 15th & 22nd we will know for certain. By the way, have you even seen Glasgow or Green Co. play this year???

Yes. both! Green was not very impressive at all. Glasgow was! Do not get me wrong, Green is good, but not as good as last two years. Glasgow is a lot better that anyone is expecting. If you count either team out they will beat you bad!!! I am just making a pretty cocky statement that whichever team wins will be "2nd" in the district. Don't feel bad, Griff left us hanging last year at the field and called 15 minutes after the game was suppose to start! He is a real class act!!!!!! This was the week we played them in varsity!!! I am glad we are moving up to 3a next year and will not have to deal with him!!!! I don't mind playing Green because they are always good competition....but I do mind the mindset that he has over these young men. He does not coach good ethics that these young men can take after high school!!! Remember, this is just my opinion, which that and a dollar will get you a cup of java at McDonalds!!!

I am not certain but I believe in was due to only having 10 freshmen. One freshmen has broken his arm/hand and not sure if he is playing. Several of the sophomores play varsity therefore he did not want to send them in place of freshmen. Please know the facts before you decide to throw stones at a coach who always puts his players first. Don't judge by what you see all the time because the Dragon players are well taken care of by the coaching staff and they seem to have a great "family" bond. Pretty good group of fellas.

 

Freshmen games are mainly for development and I know by watching the Dragons play, they play all of their freshmen in JV games. Some of them have even gotten some varsity playing time. Green County believes in two platooning so they try to develop the players early and often. So as you see, sometimes playing in 3 games a week is too much for anyone. Also it may be good they did not play, I saw the JV play on Monday against Taylor County with only 16 players and won 54-8. It was ugly !!! Green County's talent is there and they will continue to win games for quite a while.

Why does this quote not surprise me TSYOUNG. I have not seen you say much of anything NICE about the Dragons program for a couple years now. I understand its a rivalry but we are adults and there comes a time where you give respect where respect is due. The Dragons and the coaches come prepared for every game and I am pretty certain that over the past 3 years, the series between the Dragons and the Falcons is tied 3-3. I also know for a fact the Dragons won the district last season then lost to the Falcons in the region. So to have the feeling that either program is better than the other is mere biased. These are all young adults that we talk about often and we forget they are enjoying the time of their lives with playing high school football..an opportunity we would all give our left leg just to take one more snap. Good Luck to the Falcons friday and Good Luck to the Dragons. It will all be settled in a few weeks and if your team wins or loses, both programs will suit it all up again the next season with the same goals in mind.

If you could build an All star team with only Green and Monroe they could compete with almost anyone IMO. This is just a way for me to vent somtimes and a lot you guys get the raw end of the stick. I have no beef with you, never have. Hect we have been on the same field in little league many times. I watch at track meets and low and behold there you are, I think it is great that you are involved with the programs like you are. But don't get me wrong, I bleed blue!!!! My son is a Senior this year and this team is going to surprise a lot of people deep in the playoffs. I would say that they are your last two teams from Green. You guys have beeen very dominant over the past couple years and would probably went further...well thats another discussion. I wish you guys luck tonight, but Glasgow is really good this year. If you guys can control Tavion Parrish and Keep Cash from completeing his throws you guys will win. If not, they get you guys. My only worry for you guys is your lines. I have that same sorry for us! No hard feelings here though. See you in a couple weeks!!!

TSYoung, I appreciate what you just said and I too agree with many of your statements. I am not certain who you think I am but I do know the coach you are referring too and he is very much involved in our programs. Green, Glasgow, and Monore are all very good football teams and I feel that whoever wins our district/region will be eventual 2A state champions. I hope I am correct in that assumption because this district has been really tough and deserving over the past few years. Good Luck to you at Metcalfe and we will see you in a few weeks !
