Poor behavior from the fans directed at players and coaches isn't half as bad as some of things that are said and happens to officials on Friday nights. It is amazing the things that officials take on Friday night, and to top it off the fans think they know the rules but confuse them so often between high school, college, and the NFL. For example I don't know how many times I have heard that the QB's out of the pocket that's not intentional grounding! And that's true for College, and the NFL but on Friday nights there is no pocket. Just one of many examples. Just an observation from an officials point of view. It comes with the territory when you put on the stripes.

 

ref9 brings up a great point. Where does it cross the line during contest when addressing the Ref's? Common things like "You're Blind!" "He/She's holding" "Awwwww Come On" are often so used that people don't even notice. I know that comes with the territory and training for ref's; but to allow much worse things?

 

I know in football it is much harder to monitor voices in the crowd than say a basketball/baseball game. I have the greatest respect for ref's - I know I couldn't do it.

Trust me. I have a similar story, and my kids were well behaved. But there's a lot more life ahead. He's only 4, and there's a lot more exposure ahead of him, not to mention him developing his own attitude and mind about things. I'm not saying he'll ever be a "bad" kid. But even good kids cuss.

 

I would be more mad if an adult was cussing around my son than a bunch of kids.

Well its a thread about over the top fan behavior, CCH was brought up and talked about not sure what "game" others should worry about in a thread where your school was brought up in discussion? It also feeds the fire of a topich like this when CCH does things like throw thousands of beads across the Holy Cross gym floor and students cursing at adults because they were told to clean it up, and then the CCH AD did......natta.

There are schools that take football way to serious, and allow their students to get away with things that, in my opinion, are crazy and very close to illegal. I am not just talking about one school or one instance. I have seen quite a few were the police could have been involved and the AD's and principles do nothing.

No time to go through this whole string so this cliche may have already been said; however, if parants are out of control you can pretty much believe "the apple rarely falls far from the tree".

...And what did you do? Assuming you're an adult and all.

 

I am not sure what your asking or why? I being a Holy Cross guy and at the game helped clean the floor as the CCH students, parents, and whoever they had at the game walked out afte there students trashed the Holy Cross gym. The CCH princpal was notifiedI am pretty sure, nothing happened.

The thing that make high school football so great, in my opinion, is that is is uncoruppted, like all other levels of football have become. It is football at the finest. There are no endoursment deals or million dollar contracts, it is just kids wanting to play a great game. In saying this I believe that since I have played things have changed. Parents are pushing their kids way to hard. I recently heard of a kid verbally comitting at 12 yrs old. We as parents need to step back and look at what we are doing. Football is the best game ever, in my opinion, or at least it was.

 

I have to disagree with you on this. There is some corruption in high school football. It is not near as bad as other levels but it is there.
