Holmes has really good speed. They can't beat Boyle County. They might be able to beat Lex. Cath. if they are on.

Man, Coach Lickert has it going on. He seems very intelligent and really shows a caring and understanding not only for the game of football but for the education and well being of the students. I dont know Coach Lickert but with what he did at Dayton and now what has transpired at Holmes it will be interesting to see where he takes Holmes. I would definitely put Lickert in a class of upcoming talent in the coaching ranks. What do you think?

They can't help the 6 classes, but aside from that I believe that they're a top 10 team in 4A, and probably top 5. Good athletes, good coaching and a relatively mundane class means they could make some noise in the playoffs. Next year it will be back to the grind of a Highlands/CovCath district, but hopefully all the work they've done will keep them from getting discouraged. This is the best Holmes has looked since back in the 90's

 

Don't forget about the early 2000's when Holmes had James Jackson, Antwan Curry, Jamarcus White, Sid Rice, and Brandent Englemon to name a few. From the late 90's unil about 02 or 03 Holmes had some very good teams that consistently produced some very good college prospects.

 

Brandent Englemon's senior year (03), Holmes came in to the year as preseason #3 in 3a when they had 4 classes. It was when they made the jump to 4a with Trosper that the program really started to go down hill.

 

As far as the future goes, it will be tougher with Covcath and Highlands again in the district but the talent level won't drop off for a while. They have some talented kids in this years' jr, soph, and frosh classes.
