North Oldham 56 Moore 18

Featured Replies

Zach Evans rushed for a school-record in a single game (still waiting on the official stats, but it was between 245 - 263 yards and 4 TDs), and North rushed as a team for 597 yards in a 56-18 rout of Moore HS. Eleven different North players ran the ball...besides Evans, Austin Crawley rushed for 101 yards and a TD, and his brother Cody Crawley rushed for over 90 yards and two scores.

The two teams combined for 40 points in the first quarter, as North took a 28-12 lead; but six turnovers - four in the third period - undid Moore.

Moore fumbled the opening kickoff, which was recovered by North at the 16. Evans scored his first TD on the very next play...

Kudos for Billy Martin for being a class act at the end; with subs in - and subs' subs running the ball - North was moving easily towards a ninth TD, but Martin had backup QB Jake Evans take a knee at the Moore two on the game's final play...

It's great to see the Mustangs start the season with such a dominating win.

When the team went down to Washington County last weekend for their final scrimmage the feeling was much the same as last night. This team is executing their offense very well and efficiently for this early in the season. The squad is undersized across the board and especially in the trenches but when you factor in their quickness and that these are intelligent kids playing with passion and good intensity, it will be very interesting to see how it stacks up against the tougher rivals this year. Defense is all about a few great seniors and a whole lot of very young underclassmen overachieving and having fun together.

It shouldn't take long to get a clue how the team will challenge better competition . J-Town is next for the Mustangs.

Should be "football 101" for North. Pressure the QB, solid tackling and don't give up the long ball.

Congrats to the Stangs on starting the season with a bang!

total 622-- 267 for Evans

North Oldham will be on Channel 32 as team of the week. The team will have to remain focused on this weeks game versus a good 5A J-town team and not worry about last weeks game. I believe they are mature enough to focus and move on.
