Boyle County 36 Johnson Central 29

I'll eat some crow. JC is way better than I expected them to be. JJ Jude is likely the best running back we have faced in years. No one has ran the ball on us the way he did tonight. I was very impressed with his game and running abilities. He ran hard and he was agile enough to make us look silly on more than one occasion. I was also impressed with the JC passing game. I bet they threw about 10 passes all night. All of them in 3rd and long or 4th and long situations(except for the end of the 1st half). The whole stadium knew it would be a pass play and it seemed like every time they would not only complete the pass but get some or a lot of yac yards with it. All of them 1st downs. As well as they ran it was their passing game that kept them in the game and made them a threat. My hat is off to JC. I expect them to be the best team we face all year along with Bell County and Lone Oak. I was wrong about Johnson Central. Good luck the rest of the year.

I never undersold the offense of Boyle. I didn't expect the offense to look better than the defense but I knew we would have a good balanced offense and this is just the beginning. I'd have loved to have seen us just line 5 wide receivers up and let Devan have at it. It seemed like JC had a hard time stopping us in 4 or 5 receiver sets. I'll reserve judgment on our defense for the simple fact that JC, IMO, will be the best team and best offense we face until the Bell County game. Great teams find a way to score regardless of the defense(see Lone Oak game last year) and great defenses find a way to get the necessary stops when needed. While the defense didn't shut down the JC offense like I expected, they still made the necessary stops when needed.

Great game all around and again, my hat is off to JC. Now if you'll excuse me I am going to go heat up some of this crow. That ride from the mountains worked up my appetite.

Jude, your relative was fun to watch. I wish your family member nothing but success in the future. He won me over tonight.

It was a great game by both teams. JC has a really good running game and hit BC with a couple of passes. Here is some stats for the game.

BC JC

1st downs 14 15

3rd downs 4/6 1/8

4th downs 0/1 2/4

rushing yards 299 2TDS 196 3 TDS

passing yards 138 2 TDS 135 1 TD

total yards 437 331

total plays 41 58

Cook (BC) 17-193yards 2 TDS

#1 (JC) I think had 135 yards

Just got home. What a great game (although I only got to see the 1st half due to a trip to the ER with my son (who is OK thank goodness)).

Observations:

1. These teams were VERY evenly matched and Boyle is fortunate to come away with a W.

2. JC should be 9-1 at the end of the regular season. I was very impressed with what they put on the field.

3. The Jude kid is AWESOME and will have an incredible year. He's definitely one of the quickest RB's I've seen in quite some time.

4. Boyle's offense played a very well-rounded game which is nice to see in the first game of the year.

5. JC's stadium/field is second to none and the atmosphere was very entertaining (I loved the music "sound-bites" between plays).

5. As we were leaving to take my son to the ER for a cat-scan, several JC workers and fans were absolutely fantastic in assisting us with everything such as giving us a ride out to our car, offering water and other refreshments to us, giving directions to the hospital and just providing comforting words. I'll forever be grateful for the treatment we received and will never forget how classy they were.

6. I'm really tired.

Thanks to all who posted so far and nice to hear the BC player and Titletown's boy are recovering. Us Nky fans will be keeping a close eye on Jc this year. Best of luck to both teams.

If you wanted to see a great high school football game . This would of been the one. Two great teams. Both of these teams will have great seasons!

Does the cramping issue suprise you guys? I mean, some teams make conditioning a major focus (which i agree with), while other teams (from what I've been told) do not condition much at all during or after practice.

I know @ Raceland we put a major emphasis on conditioning.

Titletown I'm really glad to hear your son is home and doing ok. We all were praying for him. I appreciate your kind words for the fans here. It was VERY strange to walk away from the field as the losing team but still enjoying the game? You just can't be upset when both teams play their hearts out.

PurplePride, I have to think that Boyle will be the best team JC faces until the playoffs this year. Although the schedule is packed with really good teams Boyle is definitely at the top of that list. I thougth that for as far away as Boyle is that your fans showed up in decent even if not overwhelming numbers.

Now to be a little bit of a proud cousin and ask if I'm being too biased in saying that J.J. Jude had 193 total yds (133 rushing) and I believe that will be his lowest total all year. Can a junior win Mr. Football?

I don't know if cramping changed the outcome but it definitely slowed both teams down. JC seemed to be more affected with at least 4 different players cramping up at different points in the second half. JK and JJ repeatedly cramped up. The coaches are really going to have to put some time into working to prevent this in the future.

Mr. Football is a senior based award. I forgot he is a junior.:scared: He has got a bright future ahead of him and will definitely be in the Mr Football discussion next year. Does Johnson Central come back to Boyle next year? I'd love a chance to watch him play again. I do plan on being in Bowling Green in December.:ylsuper:

Good luck the rest of the way. And yeah, that should be his lowest total of the year. He was amazing and fun to watch.

Isn't cramping normally an issue at this time of the year regardless of the team and conditioning due to the heat? Lamar is our most notorious cramper at the beginning of every year and Cook cramped up a little yesterday also. When looking at the names it is our 2 guys who exert the most effort just as it was for JC. As hard as they play they are likely losing fluids at a faster pace compared to everyone else no matter how much they try to replenish or are they not properly hydrating themselves before, during and after games/practice? Without knowing how well they are hydrating I think it may be too hard to answer that question but I was always told that the hydration process begins a week in advance of strenuous activity.

Leg cramping generally has more to do with electrolyte inbalances than lack of conditioning. You can be in excellent shape and still be brought down by cramping--remember Tony Delk's cramping issues? Coupled with the heat, I'm surprised it wasn't more prevalent last night.

TitleTown, glad to see your boy is doing good. I saw it was yours on facebook and then I came on here and see you made it home. Glad to see he is fine.

I passed you on the Mountain Parkway on the way up there. I would have honked or something but I had a Tahoe load of Rebels and I didn't want to startle you. Don't know if you would have been able to tell it was me driving.:D

Thanks Double P. Oddly enough I remember a truck-load of fans actually passing us because it was the only one during the drive. The truck had the Boyle "B" in the back window.

Appreciate the thoughts. Scary that your cousin is a junior and has 2 years to wear down the carpet at your field.:scared::scared:

That was us. Maroon Tahoe with 5 juniors and a 5th grader in it.
