Another impressive player for Beechwood was Gage Erdman.

I assume Erdman was one of the other backs that Beechwood played. It was hard to tell who was who with Beechwood players wearing each other's jerseys but Beechwood had 3 different backs that looked very impressive running the ball. I would guess each of those three averaged 10 yards a carry or more in the game.

How did Nussbaum look? I am assuming he was playing Linebacker along with Staton.

Beechwood has a lot of talent in that sophomore class, starting with Vocke.

Vocke is a junior which is loaded and the sophs are led by Nussbaum and Erdman. I would expect the Beechies to be in the state finals the next couple years if they can get past Mayfield.

What did the o-line and d-lines look like for Beechwood? Better than last year?

The bigger issue is Conner. If you are a 6A team you can't get your lunch handed to you by a 1A team no matter how good that 1A team may be.

Yes, but it is one scrimmage against a young, inexperienced team. This Friday's scrimmage against Boone Co. will be a tougher test for Beechwood's lines and will give a better picture of what to expect out of them.

The vast majority of this scrimmage was 1's versus 1's. The 1's each ran 2-3 series against each other till they scored or punted. Then there were a couple of series in the middle of the scrimmage where the 2's faced off. Then the 1's came back in again for the rest of the scrimmage.

In the end, it was a scrimmage and means "zero"; however, 1) pretty much every combination Conner used was not very effective on either side of the ball 2) I highly doubt the Conner team/coaches have worked their butts off all off-season to get to this point and waste the opportunity by only letting the 1's play 4 or 5 plays (makes no sense) 3) Conner may be inexperienced, but not that young 4) Conner has an excellent coaching staff and the team will without a doubt learn and grow each and every week!

 

In a nutshell, IMO, BW had a better showing in this scrimmage, but you can bet that neither team ended the game completely happy with where they are at this point.

Actually the structure of the scrimmage was 20 mins varsity 20 minuters JV and the last 20 mins vasity. Defensively, the 1st 20 minutes Conner had 5 plays, thats how it played out......
