I was just trying to stir it. There are some posters that hate reading about Highlands on EVERY thread. Thats all.

I never singles myself out...you seem to be wanting to start something where there is nothing there.

Really was special. I'll show it to my 13 year if I can keep him seated. Love the ending, he is named after the Bear.

It got me pumped about the season...can't wait for it to start. The speech at the beginning of the video reminded me of when I was a senior and Rockcastle County hosted Boyle County in the playoffs...its a tradition at Rockcastle for the seniors go up to the middle school baseball field and sit in the dugout and focus on the game and get pumped up until the coaches come get them...I may not have been a player but the emotions that when through me and what I said to the guys that night I'll never forget...yeah we did get beat in overtime but I'll never forget the feeling before the game knowing that I was truly part of something special....this video brings back all of those memories.

 

Another thing I liked about the video is that it just didn't focus on one team or teams from just one state. Celina HS (orange jerseys) are a 2A or 3A powerhouse in Texas, Naperville Central HS (the one at the beginning of the video and had Redhawks on the logo) are from Illinois, Battle Ground Academy is from Franklin,Tenn., and Gibbs HS (the ones wearing Columbia Blue) are from Corryton, Tenn.

 

Gibbs H.S., which is just outside of Knoxville, is Chesney's alma mater. I played basketball against Gibbs in high school many years before Chesney went to school there. I looked through my old yearbooks and we never played Gibbs in football. Tennessee is as football crazy as Kentucky is basketball crazy. Being a basketball player, I was painfully aware of that. We still family land near Luttrell, TN where Kenny grew up.

Montgomery Bell Academy (Nashville, TN area school) was also in the video. The were in the beginning as well (maroon and silver). You can't really make out their logo on their helmets and on the cheerleaders uniforms. It's an interlocking M, B and A. It kind of looks like one big cluster, unless you know what you're looking for. Sharp, though. I agree with you, statman, I loved how they picked out small town teams that are powers in their state(s).

Given the last 6-8 meetings of the KY/TN All-Star game that KY dominated, the # of Division 1 College recruits, regional/national ranked teams and fan support; I'd say KY is neck and neck now, at least getting closer by the day. I've got a couple good friends from college that are from middle and eastern TN, and that's even came directly from them, too (even though it pains them to admit it).

I can't argue with that. I was thinking of all levels, not just high school. The northern Kentucky area especially plays good football. Of course, Highlands is competitive on a national level. All-Star games can be misleading because of who doesn't play. I would tell my son not to play if he already had a scholarship. What's the point?

 

Two schools I"m familiar with in Tennessee, Maryville and Alcoa plays some serious football.

Thank You for posting this. My wife cried and I could not help but feel the pain and loss for that feeling of friday nights. My middle son is a senior this year so this is bitter sweet for us. We only have one son left that can bring those feelings back of staring into the crowd and feeling all the butterflies of the lights....May all of you that have never experienced the feelings of this find it else where before you pass, because there is not much other than my wife and the birth of my children that can match it!!!!

My youngest son is a senior this year. Last year at the start of the spring game, it struck me. Everything he does from here on out in high school will be the last time he does it in high school. If he gets a college scholarship, that'll be be great of course. But, high school provides that family, friend and community flavor that college can't match.

I like Kenny but the song was just okay. My wife was balling her eyes out thinking about her little boy who is 9. I told her to relax he has 9 more years but like the video shows, time does fly by.

I can't believe that Highlands wasn't mentioned. :isurrender: (I 'M JUST KIDDING!!!)
