He will have it after tomorow. He already has 498 ABs. He will qualify. Plus I am pretty sure Walks are included in plate appearances for the batting title. So he is way over.

September 8, 201016 yr I might want to change my vote for Cy Young to Tim Hudson. Under a 2.00 ERA is impressive. When was the last time that was done? Votto's numbers are actually a little bit better on the road. At this point, I think whichever team out of Cincy, Colorado, & St. Louis finishes the strongest should have their stud win the MVP, whether it be Votto, Gonzalez or Pujols.

AL MVP - Josh Hamilton (.361, 94 R, 31 HR, 97 RBI) AL CY - Felix Hernandez (11-10, 2.30 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 209 K/66 BB, 219.1 IP, 5 CG) NL MVP - Joey Votto (.321, 94 R, 32 HR, 98 RBI) NL CY - Roy Halladay (17-10, 2.36 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 196 K/28 BB, 221 IP, 8 CG, 3 Sho) Personally, I factor team success into the MVP race a little more than the Cy Young. I'm not trying to persuade anyone to see it that way, just giving you my thought process. Votto and Pujols are very similar, so I give the nod to the guy whose team is +6 in the division. Josh Hamilton is having a great season and the Rangers are going to win the AL West. As for the pitchers, I think Felix Hernandez has been the best pitcher in the AL. In his 10 losses, the Mariners have averaged exactly 1 run per game, including 3 games with no runs at all. He's started 30 games, and the team has scored 2 or fewer runs in 13 of those. But, if you look at anything other than W-L record, he leads the AL in innings pitched and strikeouts, ranks #2 in ERA, and third in complete games and WHIP. I'd vote for him. In the NL, I thought Halladay was the top guy. Unlike Hernandez, Hallady has a strong record, 17-10, and plays on a first place team to go along with his numbers. But, he can be justified with numbers alone, IMO. He leads the NL in innings pitched, complete games (8, three more than the next guy), and shutouts (3). He's tied for second with 17 wins (one behind Jiminez). He rates third in WHIP and strikeouts, fifth in ERA, and seventh in K/BB ratio.

Do you think voters will take into account that Pujols had one of the best months of his career in August, and at the same time the Cardinals were collapsing? I don't think voters put much into the whole whose team is best. Last year was a perfect example when Timmy Lincincum won the Cy over Wainwright and Carpenter. Lincincum didn't make the playoffs and choked down the stretch when his team needed him the most. The opposite was for Carp and Waino, especially Waino who I believe won 14 of his final 15 starts. Just throwing out there that it seems to me the voters don't always look at team record.

With pitchers, I think great performance can overcome a lackluster team much easier.

Just throwing out there that it seems to me the voters don't always look at team record. MVP voting is different than Cy Young. MVP usually goes to a team in the playoffs or at least in the running. CY Young. Greinke from KC won it.
