I thought judges weren't supposed to use their personal beliefs when making decisions from the bench.

Our present president wants them to use their "life experiences."

The problem with that is?

That are what politicians are supposed to do not those appointed for life that are supposed to make decisions based on LAW and not their personal opinion on matters.

If that is the case then why worry how many judges there are from a certain religion?

I didn't start the thread, just made a comment and it had zero to do with their faith. Ask that question of bugatti if you want an answer.

I asked the question of you since you asked a question of me. It is opened to anyone to answer.

It does not matter, just an observation. One would assume a group of 9 would consist of a full spectrum of race, gender, religion, etc. that would be somewhat reflective of the population. I am not sure of the numbers, but I believe Catholics make up about 100,000,000 people in America, or 1/3.

I would rather them be Catholic and Jewish than an ATHEIST. At least they believe in GOD.

I don't think that a belief in God is required to be able to judge based on laws.

Well our law says illegal immigrants aren't allowed in the US or allowed to stay in the US. BUT I DON'T see nay judges backing up the law. GOD gave the judges the ability to govern, not a person like you or me.

This brings another question to mind. Aren't the judges supposed to interpret the law and make their decision on that basis only and not govern from the bench?

In your beliefs, but there are those who reject the notion of any form of deity. Just because they don't believe in an all caps God doesn't make them any less qualified than you or I to serve on the bench. Besides keeping an atheist off the bench because of their lack of religious beliefs is, in a sense, religious persecution because they do not share your belief in a life creating deity.
