June 16, 201016 yr A lady admitted today that she knew neither candidate but voted for Green because his name reminded her of singer Al Green. Odd, because South Carolina has rarely had a history of wanting to "Stay Together."
June 16, 201016 yr Stewart did a great job with the story -- as usual. He did appear to miss the fact that SC has an open primary. I noticed that as well. It does make the story a little different than how Stewart reported it. He also mentioned that the Democrats were running for the opportunity to get crushed by Jim DeMint - that certainly would have made more Republicans comfortable with crossing over to the other side to vote for a plant. But ultimately, we may be giving South Carolinians more credit than they are due. Perhaps they do vote for the "first name on the ballot."

DeMint beat Inez Tennenbaum in '04.
