McCreary County 2010

Featured Replies

HOp & Cellking I meant no disrespect to the boys in burgandy and gold last year. I actually was trying to compliment the talent McCreary had last year. People need to know McCreary county has talented kids. HOP I agree with what you said I did not know you had been following the program that long and that you are close to the coaches you obviously know what is going on. Thanks for the background history on the team I did not know all that, especially the JV part. I understand your optimism. I am just saying when you lose an entire coaching staff, and a core group of veteran talent it is hard to overcome for an NFL team let alone H.S.. It can be done but you must work very hard. This is what this team will need to do and will! No doubt.

All I meant was that the talent they had last year overmatched some of the teams they played, I was exagerating to emphasis this point. I was not implying they did not work hard. Talent alone don't get it done. CELLking sorry if offended you I meant it as a compliment that McCreary had such talent last year. Good talent is developed by good coaching and hard work! That was evident that both things happened thus the 7-4 record.

My apologies if I did not compose my thoughts better.

No apologies necessary as I did not take offense. This is a discussion board which means you say something and that triggers a response from me and my response triggers another from you. Your post was not disrespectful one bit I just didn't find it accurate so I gave my opinion on the subject. The thing about high school football is every team looses 6, 7, 8 or 12 seniors every year that they have to replace it is those teams that work the hardest to develope their young players in the off season who over come their loss the best. McCreary has and have always had as good of athletes as anybody in the state the key is getting them to play and then coaching them up so they can play at the same level as everyone else. I truely believe this years Raiders have been coached very well by the previous coaching staff as well as the current coaching staff so there is no reason why they shoudn't win football games and be in a position to when most of the games they play IF they should not win and since there is no reason for them not to win games anything else said about it is an excuse and has no business being said. It is my belief that excuses lead to negativity and negative thought breed negative results and the Raiders have worked very hard at getting rid of that stigma so I hope it doesn't ever show it's ugly head again. Again no offense taken I have enjoyed your posts and kindred conversation. Good luck Raiders and Go Get'em Guys!

No Apologies needed from the Trenchmaster it is our choice to agree or not agree with a statement made. I am sure I will make some this year that you do not agree with. Good Luck to the Raiders and the Staff.

I got you cellking. I agree. Hey we agree on something :) I certainly have agreed with you more than not and if it wasn't for my one sentence that I could have worded better we probably would have agreed on that! I am a hs football fan in general and started following McCreary four years ago so I do wish them the best! i know the new coaches and players will build on the solid foundation coach gay and his staff built with the program.

What time does the scrimmage start? does anyone what was wrong the field? heard there was some issues with the field last night? I wanted to see them tonight but I don't think I pass up watching Knott Central season opener in Barbourville.

I hope the Raiders do well. HOP I am sure you are going please give us a summary!

GO Raiders!

I assumed the field was too wet, I guess we all know what assuming does. Then someone told me they practiced on the field. The Scrimmage starts at 7:30. I also hate to miss the Knox Central Clay Co. game it will be a good one. Somerset vs Lynn Camp will be an interesting one. I'll watch the Raiders and save Gas money.

Yeah I meant KNOX Central not Knott Central. Hey cellking the raiders play Lynn Camp right? I can scout two teams in one night for the raiders maybe I can get a scouting job for the team :)

let us know how the team does tonight hate to miss it. Sounds your close to the program like HOP. Who do you like in the Pioneer Bowl. I am taking Lynn Camp and Knox. My buddy and me are going he has a kid who plays.

Then why pick Somerset in the poll?

Then why pick Somerset in the poll?

I actually made a mistake I meant Somerset and Knox ( I have been having a hard time matching the thoughts in my brain with my fingers lately:) Lynn Camp loses too much from last year including a stud RB. Somerset should be decent they have a great coach and good kids coming back. I am concerned about the Offensive Line though. It is hard to replace the size and athelticism they had last year. The BJ have a smaller and inexperienced line this year.

I will be watching the games tonight my buddy's son plays for Knox. Good luck to the Jumpers in the Pioneer Bowl!

Scrimmage update: McCreary Central didn't get a whole lot done aganist a good Russell Co. Team. I didn't see the improvement I had hoped for. All McCreary can do is go back to practice and work harder and get ready for Pineville. Pineville will be a good Class A Team, not a lot of Dept but the starters will play both ways and play hard. Good Luck to the Raiders.

sorry to hear that. Wish them well against Pineville I will be there. Like you said they got to get to practice and keep working. The knox vs clay game was fantastic 9-6 knox. This is not a thread for either team so I won't go into detail.

Cellking, how did RC look? I didn't make over to MC and was just wondering?? We have almost everyone back except for the a couple on the line and sum d skill players........Any info would be greatly appriciated!

Well realistically McCreary only needs to beat Madison Southern to reach the playoffs, as far as this team is concerned it will be hard to win 6 games, but if they do it it would be quite the accomplishment for a one-time struggling program to really start to gain some respect around the state. Good luck to the fellows down south!

We will see good luck to Coach Smith and the boys! Can't wait to see how they do tonight! HoP and CELLKING bring the noise tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
