Griffey Jr: A sad ending to a great career.

Featured Replies

It was a great career, but it could have been greater.

I know all the fantastic numbers Junior posted, but I will always think of him as a bit of an underachiever.

Maybe I had my bar of expectation for Junior set too high?

In 20+ seasons he has...

630 HR

2700+ Hits

1800+ RBIs

1600+ Runs

.900+ Career OPS

10 Gold Gloves

13x All Star

7x Silver Slugger

MLB All Century Team

He does only have one MVP which surprises me. But I would say that he has actually overachieved cause know one can expect to have this kind of production in a career. He has also never once been mention in steroids and never ha any trouble with the law.

Great career but at this point he should have been named the greatest player of all time had it not been for the injuries.

Sad to see his career end the way it is going, he just needs to retire.

Slugfest? That game was AWESOME. Thats a crime, it should be top 50 at least.

The one for N64 was my favorite. I loved that game. My roommates and I once played an entire 162 game season when I was at Morehead. It took us most of the fall semester. There were three of us...I won the World Series with the Rockies. My other two roommates were the Braves and Cardinals.

I played a few 162 games seasons. Needless to say my big guys had like 100+ homeruns I think. Man I wanna go play that game now.

I know what you are saying and you did a nice job of posting the statistics that back it up.....but....

In my mind, I don't see Ken Griffey, Jr. achieving what I thought he would have achieved in his Major League Career.

I guess I thought he was going to be the greatest player ever, huh?

Fair enough!:thumb::thumb::thumb:

Heard many, many baseball people over the past few days saying that sleeping in the clubhouse during games is commonplace.
