He has attempted to make government stronger and the inidividual weaker. He wants more power at the federal level and less at the state level. He wants the government to tax and tax some more to redistribute the wealth to those who earn less. He will trash the Tea Party, but defend those who come into the country illegally. So, what did the Bush administration do other than centralize education and strip away privacy protections? That's a loaded question. If I had to add to that I'd note: takeover of private insurance company; bailouts for financial institutions; broad expansion of executive power; wiretaps without warrants; secret CIA prisons; and, signing statements.

There are liars and thieves in all walks of life. That includes government, corporate America, education and even the clergy. I also believe that the vast majority of people in all of those fields are good people trying to do the best they can for themselves (first) and the rest of society (second).

Thanks for the attempt at a leg up, but I'm sure it's fair to point out the hypocrisy of chastising Obama for continuing many of the same policies that allowed Bush to dramatically expand executive and federal power. Declaring the past off limits just doesn't cut it.

How is it hypocritical to note the commonality between the two? I didn't say that Obama was a small government guy and I don't recall him saying that. I just drives me nuts that people flail around complaining that Obama is expanding the federal government and ignore the fact that it has been going on for at least* 8 years.
