Out of the 250 innings pitched last year,

Isler: 69 innings 12-0

Nutini 59 innings 5-3

Krumme 43 1/3 innings 8-0

Gerwe 25 innings 4-0

Shumate 24 1/3 innings 3-1

 

The rest Warning, Hellman, Schlagbaum, Martin, Darner and Klein threw from 8 innings to 3 inning each. So who from the above list of Isler, Nutini and Krumme who BTW are all playing NCAA D1 or D3 baseball, who do you take innings away from?

 

On a side note it was good to see Patrick Krumme at the CovCath vs Louisville St. Xavier Friday night. PK will be having Tommy John surgery in the next couple of weeks or so. PK told me he was throwing in a game and just felt his elbow pop. When I asked about his grades he told me that it was tough at first but he has settled in and is doing great. Outstanding young man.

 

I would have taken some away from Shumate. He's was an average pitcher at best. Warning is by far a better pitcher and he's left handed to boot.

I think alot of people would agree with that even some of the player were talking about it last year but Krump has all the say as he should have.

I understand what you are saying, but why throw Shumate more last year than Warning when Warning has pitched more inning this year. I have watch both pitch this past summer and Warning was far the better pitcher not saying Shumate is bad but Warning was better and in most coaches eyes he is still better so what happen last year 24 inning for Shumate and 3inning for Warning to me that is a big different. The best of luck to PK, he a great kid.

WOW! This has turned into a real bash session. Marley, you seem bitter. I doubt if you watched Shumate pitch last summer...my guess is that you don't even know what team he played for. His results for CovCath as a SOPHOMORE last season as recapped by TOG seem to be very good - three wins, at least that many saves...all as a SOPHOMORE.

 

This year, from reading TOG's posts and the newspapers, it looks like Shumate has so far gotten 2 wins, 2 saves and an ERA under 1.50 in 6 appearances (Conner, St. Henry, Ryle, NCC, McNick and Simon Kenton). These results seem pretty good to me.

 

Adam Warning is a good pitcher who looks to be having a pretty good season. Why bash his teammate?

I'm not bashing anybody, by the way Shumate played for the 16's Colonels last year and when did CovCath start putting stats in the paper. Actually I have only seen one cov cath kids stats in the paper the past year.. Warning and Gerwe seem to be the ones who are pitching in all the big games,so all I am saying is I think that warning should of pitched a little more last year along with Gerwe who are getting the most inning this year. Why would I be bitter I have no dog in this fight, It just my opinon I must have hit a nerve close to home.

I was mostly relying on TOG's posts, which, after looking at Cinc.com, seem to be more accurate. He got his 2 wins in the Conner game and the Simon Kenton game? Not sure about his ERA, but it looks like 2 earned runs in about 13 innings in the 6 appearances I listed.

 

On my "bitter" comment, Marley, you bring up Adam Warning's playing time from last year over and over again on these threads. Now you are doing it at the expense of one of his teammates (who, BTW, had nothing to do with the decisions on AW's playing time last year). Why can't you be happy with Mr. Warning's current success? The last time I checked, CovCath will need more than one pitcher.

That alone should put him in the lineup, right ! Actually Spartan your logic is counter intuitive. Last year, a year that Krumps truly believed that the team had a very good chance to make some hay, he would chose to play a lesser player "because of his name"???? How many outs do you think that name got Adam S. ? You have no idea how many "names" have been cut by Krumps. He just doesn't care about that stuff. Do you realize how flawed your logic is here? Adam W. is a very good pitcher, and he's having a great year. He had a poor preseason last year, and didn't have command of his curve. Maybe it was mechanical, maybe it was mental, I don't know. Last year, he just couldn't work his way back into the rotation when given a few opportunities, as everyone else was doing well. He really had some success in the summer and fall, and has performed well this year as a result of his work since last h.s. season. Nothing more.

You can believe what you want but I know politics exist there since a person close to me was affected by it directly. That person was bypassed by someone with the right last name. Seem some forget that Adam Warning while he indeed wasn't pitching, was at the beginning of the 09 season the starting right fielder for CovCath. :sssh:

So what you're saying is that his name wasn't enough to keep him in the lineup. ... I rest my case.

 

This year, Adam W. is a better pitcher by far. That has nothing to do with why Adam S. pitched last year.

 

So someone that got bypassed in a sport, blamed it on politics. How novel. It just doesn't happen with CovCath baseball. BTW, Adam W's father played for Krumps. Just curious how Krumps chose one "name" over another? Names don't win games, performance does.
