Matter of fact is was so fine, he's now down on JV. JK

Ben earned his spot by playing well in the preseason and early on. The PT he got was based on the merits of his performance. He hit a clutch HR to beat HC the first game of the season. He will be a contributor for Varsity this year, and I believe he'll enjoy a fine varsity career over the next 2-1/2 years.

Spartan, please PM me. I'm curious as to who your friend is that you mentioned, or other examples that you may be thinking about.

One thing to remember! Three of the current 10th graders were not allowed to play for the first three games of the season. Now with those three not being able to play, a few spots were open and Ben got the chance to fill one of those spots. As was pointed out he hit a HR to defeat HC in the first game of the season, but he has some things to work on and he wasn't going to get the AB's or the innings sitting on the varsity bench.
