Sounds like CovCath is having some growing pains. Sometimes they look good sometimes they look awful. Hopefully they can get it together.

It's not necessarily the fact that they have a fair amount of seniors on the squad it's the fact that only a few of them have little if any experience at all. I think they'll get it together eventually but I think they need to be putting up more runs. Look at last year with the first 8 games CovCath put up 58 runs in their first 8 games. This year, they've put up 38. 20 extra runs for support will certainly make your pitching staff look like all stars. Take out the Dixie game when they put up 12 runs, this team has 26 runs in 7 games. That's 3.7 runs per game. Absolutely unacceptable. With the Dixie game they're below 5 runs per game. You just simply cannot win many games when scoring less than 5 runs per game.

Yes. Stein, Lankheit, Severson to name a few. There are still a lot of seniors on this team and if they continue to struggle offensively, I see no reason to keep them in the lineup when you have younger kids who could perform at the same, if not a higher level.

Glad to hear, and I agree about playing the younger guys. Give them some experience this year wherever possible to be ready for next year and beyond!

I agree 100%. Sometimes we lose perspective of what HS sports are all about. To "Go young" to get experience for next year I think is a disservice to the Senior's who have so much sweat equity in the program. If an underclassman clearly gives you a better chance to win now, then he should play. If the Senior is only slightly better or equal to the underclassman, I still say go with the Senior, he has earned it. I am not saying you don't play the younger kids to get experience. In fact I think not playing them on occasion is fullish both short term and long term.

 

Give the senior's some time to get in a groove. If you have kept them this long chances are you have seen something in them that tells you they have the ability to be successful.

Kind of a head scratcher when you have those 3 playing in front of Arnzen, Maile and Lankheit. I'm assuming it's position related.

Arnzen is not up due to recovering from a knee injury.

 

I think Krumps has decided that Matty is his best option at catcher this year which I agree with so Lankheit is behind Logan Siemer.

I certainly understand what you are saying here TOG, but again, I would like to see the younger guys getting more PT here early in the season when the games do not mean as much
