The Good: Gerwe and Schlagbaum only gave up four hits in six innings.

The Bad: Gerwe and Schlagbaum walked or hbp seven Ryle batters.

The Ugly: An E-5 that allowed two unearned runs to score and allowing Ryle to put the first batter of the inning on, in four out of the six innings and they all scored. What was worse? CovCath did it three times via walks.

Pee Wee's Place Offensive play of the game;

Ryle at the plate, bottom of the 4th and CovCath leads 2-1. Hempel walks on five pitches, and then steals second base. Man on second no outs. Hoskins puts down a nice 1-3 sac bunt. Man on third, one out. Clarkson goes 6-3 and gets a RBI out of the play. 1 run scored, and it is now 2-2 Ryle with two outs in the inning, all this without getting a single hit. Truitt hits a double goes to third on a WP and Hensley walks. Men on 1st and third two outs. Imai goes 4-3 to end the inning. This inning shows the difference between these two teams this season.

Now for The BAWAC Inc. Defensive play of the game:

Nothing outstanding, and nothing sticks out but Carney FC 4-6 out throw at second base in the 5th but Ryle doesn't make an error and other than IMO not playing the pick off of Stayton in the 4th properly they played smart and solid "D"

Grubber Grill star of the game: "You just got to eat a Mary Burger" when you attend a CovCath game!

#8 Third Basemen Hempel: While he had only one hit in the game, he did reach base all three times and scored two runs. He had two SB's and had three assists. You just can't afford to put speed on the base paths two times with no outs!

TOG - Conner Hempel did indeed steal two bases tonight, but I believe he was the DH tonight. If I'm not mistaken, Logan Carney played 3rd base and Caleb Lonkard was at 2nd base.

For Ryle, it was good to see the junior Matt Gorband have another very solid performance going the distance for the W.:jump:

If that is the case I am sorry but with no PA announcer, all I can do is guess who is playing where. I know Hempel usually plays third and Logan usually plays second! :idunno:

Please, no need to apologize - you're the best. :thumb: 9 out 10 games you would see Conner and Logan in those positions.

Note: Stayton had a single in the 2nd inning that I failed to add to his stats, as well as another FC in the sixth. Sorry Bret.

CovCath out hit Ryle tonight five hits to four but Gorbandt only had 2 walks and 1 hbp.

Hasn't Logan been playing 3B recently? I know he did against Dixie.

Logan's played third a few times this year, but the majority of the time he's been at 2B. Last year he was a fixture at 2B. Good to see players get familiar with another position - just in case something happens and you need to move personnel around.

Always good to beat CC especially after a bad year last year vs. them. Congrats to the Raiders.

Wasn't someone on here recently talking about how Hempel doesn't actually have speed? :D

Way to go boys! Wish I could of been there...work keeps getting the way!

Sounds like Hempel is dealing with a arm injury? :idunno:

Sounds like CovCath is having some growing pains. Sometimes they look good sometimes they look awful. Hopefully they can get it together.
