I think it will be a blessing in disguise. He really needs to spend some time in the minors, especially if he was going to be the 5th starter where he would get skipped pretty often in the first few weeks.

 

Yep, someone said something about that the other day. He will get regular work in the Minors the first few weeks so no need to start him up here when he won't be going every 5th day. They can wait wait a month or so until he comes up.

I was excited about the possibility of him making the big league club, but there's no doubt that in my mind that him starting out in the minors is the best move for his future & ultimately the Reds' organization.

 

I am shocked that Mike Leake is even nominally being considered for the 5th spot.

That would be great. I like going to Louisville's park. Not a bad seat in the place. Same distance to there as it is to Cincy but a lot less expensive.

I don't think we should be crushed over a June 1st call up...then again they haven't sent him down yet.

Aroldis Chapman threw 19 pitches (12 strikes) in one inning against the Milwaukee Brewers Triple-A team. He gave up a hit and struck out two. He hit 97 on the radar gun. Eleven of the 12 fastballs he threw were strikes.

 

He said his back is fine.

 

“I felt like before – good, really good,” he said through interpreter Tomas Vera. ”I threw all the pitches I usually throw. They came in really well.”

 

Chapman doesn’t know what the next step is. But he feels he could go three or four innings.

 

“I feel good about it,” he said. “I could be able to throw more innings. It was only two days that I stopped throwing. I feel really good about it.”

 

Chapman doesn’t feel any added pressure from the injury.

 

“I’m just waiting to see what happens at the end,” he said. “I feel normal. I don’t feel any pressure. It’s just a simple injury I had. It could happen to anyone.”
