Mason County crowd?

Featured Replies

All valid points but let's take it a step lower. I haven't noticed a lot of support for high school basketball games in general over the last 5 years. You can go to any Friday night game in any gym and pretty much sit where you want. Is it just like everything else? Are there just more things to do to occupy our kids time? Do families just not do things together as much?

Many folks have moved to Florida for the winter and only come back to this area in the summer.

Gonna throw this out there for a reason fans dont attend games, particularly the students. I understand economics has a lot to do with it BUT... This came from a Scott County fan when asked why there are 2400 students in the high school and hardly no fans, particularly students. Could it possibly be some schools like Scott County and Mason County do not have as large of a following anymore because the players are NOT Scott Countians or Mason Countians. Anotherwords, half of the team or so didnt even grow up in the county. These schools have players that have transferred in. This Scott County fan said many fans dont feel any "ownership" with the players and can't identify with them. They simply don't know who they are and haven't been able to watch them "grow up" into young men. Look at a school like Elliott County last year that had home grown talent and the fans absolutely fell in love with. Just a thought I would throw out there.

Just because it's blue doesn't mean it's Mason Blue, I wore blue a couple days and it was because I like blue.

Most Mason fans are fair weather fans and only show up when they think they have a chance at winning. They won't show up if they're playing a 9th region team either (per their fans).:ylsuper:

Their shirts said Mason County on them......:ohbrother::idunno:

I wasn't able to make it to Rupp this year, but I still listened to every Mason County game on the radio.

I do agree that when any team has a great deal of success you will get your fair share of bandwagon fans.

After Mason County won the 10th Region, from 92-94, they didn't win another one until 2002. While I can't see them having another 8 year drought, the time is coming for them to have a few "off" years by their standards.

We will then see who the true fans are.

Don't ever see them having a down year, they will be favored in the 10th next year and good classes are coming up as well.

Clyde Barbour, and yes, he did know how to throw a party.:thumb:

I miss the Clyde Barbour parties, even though the price tags for these events eventually led to the downfall of the Clyde's grocery chains. Clyde knew how to spend money, even when he didn't have any to spend.

You defeated the purpose by eating ice cream and drinking soda, don't you watch The Doctors during the week?

Yea, your right. But just being at Rupp makes me hungry, I guess. I did take some of that money and have an excellent meal at Cheddar's.

Has anyone mentioned that maybe UK playing at the same time, at least on Friday, being a possible reason?

Though, obviously, that wouldn't affect Saturday's semi. That was a bit of a disappointment to see.

UK played on Thursday and that by my eyes was the biggest crowd Mason had all week.

I'm an idiot. That whole week is just a blur. I meant Saturday night's crowd, which does not influence this thread whatsoever.

Thanks for correcting me.
